Easy to point out the odd game but he has been responsible for plenty of the oppositions goals or chances since he came here.
Not as many as Lockyer has and he doesn’t get half as much criticism as Craig has despite being a Welsh international and our captain. Last season Craig came in at January and almost immediately we started conceding less goals, we finished in a respectable position because of it. The problem is Craig and Lockyer are a less than ideal partnership. Both are intelligent players but they lack height and strength, Lockyer is held down by the burden of captaincy and Craig by his lack of pace. If we bring in a 6ft 3 centre back who can stop the defence being bullied through the centre and cut out the amount of set pieces we concede, Craig and Lockyer will prove to be competent defenders for this level. A loanee CB with the right attributes and our two main fullbacks returning will completely turn us around defensively. Surely if we do bring in a 6'3" CH that's the end of Craig's Rovers career, bearing in mind Locks always starts and DC likes to play 4 across the back? Whatever the opinion is on Craig he looks a poor signing as he's simply not tell enough to play alongside Locks. |

There are lads in National League South or lower than the that could defend better than we have managed. Fraser Horsfall, Kieran Fenton, Ben O'Hanlon, James Yates and Callam Jones.
Starting to think I was born in the wrong era as I was a CB who often played LB (even though I am right footed)!!

Yes, but when has DC ever completely replaced a permanent player with a loanee, DC has said it a few times this year that he doesn’t want to rely on loanees and that would be a prime example of doing so. If a CB does come in you can expect him having to force his way into the first team spot with good performances like Jakubiak is having to do, DC won’t change this approach no matter how many goals we concede or score it seems. Craig can still play left back too and with the amount of experience he possesses, DC won’t remove him from the starting 11 just yet. I’d like to see Lockyer reminded that he isn’t immune to being placed on the bench despite him being the captain. I think forcing Lockyer to fight for his place will drive him on to improve his own game, he’s still young so hopefully there is still more to come from him. I wouldn’t actually mind us starting with Broadbent and J Clarke, they have arguably been our two better defenders so far this season and if Broadbent can cut out his odd mistake, I can see it being a promising combination with Clarke’s consistency and Broadbent’s talent on the ball as well as the physicality of both players. |

Well, the game was sh**e but I had a pleasant afternoon/early evening in The Green pub on the Uxbridge Road in the company of the parents of Gavin Reilly. I had a Rovers shirt on and they invited me to sit with them. At 4.30pm 'Home Fans Only' signs went up and a bouncer appeared on the door. The manager was very apologetic but asked if I would mind putting on my fleece. He said it was bollocks but a requirement of his drinks licence. I would say that maybe 30 QPR fans used the pub up until 7pm but the bouncers turned away at least double that number. A tip for gasheads - bring a top!
If you're watered at traveling up from Bristol for the game, spare a thought for Gavin's parents who had traveled down from Gretna!

Just before the cross was put in he was with Smith and then he takes his eye off him, takes a few steps towards our goal and by the time the cross is delivered Smith has the couple of yards needed for a free header.
