"Corbyn laid out a 1948 style response whilst the Tories water in their own tent over Brexit."
and right there is the problem. The referendum was a National non-partisan vote. It was not conducted across Party lines. These feckless politicians have turned it into a Party issue, and Labour have demonstrated that they want to use Brexit to bring down the Government, and they don't care what happens regarding Brexit. Their 'six tests' are pure fantasy. You often hear Labour talking about the 'Tory Brexit', when it's not. It's a National Brexit.
Meanwhile, just what is the Labour position on Brexit?

What I am suggesting is that if we don't address the income distribution problem, don't address income insecurities, don't address the massive dilution in public services, the question on the ballot paper is barely relevant and we will end up with polarisation and extremists in power.

Free Trade is one thing, but there has to be limits. For example, I'll use the Solar Panel industry as an example. In the 1990's, Germany was the world leader in solar panel manufacturing. If, during this period, you bought solar panels there is every likelyhood that they were designed and manufactured in Germany. Then came the Chinese. They basically copied the German stuff, and flooded the market with far cheaper stuff. We all know that the Chinese can do this by paying workers lower wages, not providing safe and healthy work environments etc etc. The Chines also didn't have to cover the cost of all the Design and Research stuff. The result now is that there is not a single company in Germany that designs or manufactures solar panels. The industry was destroyed. In cases like this, shouldn't there be huge barriers put in place to stop people like the Chinese being able to do this? Lego, believe it or not, are experiencing the same problem.

I find your argument, although factually accurate, surprising. You advocate leaving the EU, whose whole trading policies are premised upon the rule of law, and enter into trading relationships with countries like......China. China who has stolen intellectual property from developed nations for decades. And America, whose current government will walk away from any agreement on the whim of the President. And the EU, however inefficiently, does attempt to redistribute through regional grants. I am surprised you used that analogy.

I was pointing out that Free Trade is fine, but there has to be limits. Did you read it right? Oh, and I didn't even mention the US.

He's not a politician, which is one of the reasons he won the election.

But I don't think the millions in the Deep South and Texas will be very happy when they realise that they were duped. I can't see him being elected again. How's that wall going? Any bricks laid yet?

On the contrary, but I think he will be elected again. The US economy is booming under Trump. The only way the Democrats can beat him is if they put up Michelle Obama. She's a woman, and she's black, and for those two reasons she could beat him.

Sadly, like Reagan, the cumulative budget deficit and ever increasing debt will not hit home until after his term, or terms, have finished.

Oldie - I don't suppose you caught JRM and Rod Liddle on Question Time last night? Both were extremely impressive.

Oldie - I don't suppose you caught JRM and Rod Liddle on Question Time last night? Both were extremely impressive. Honestly? I started watching it and turned it off within a couple of minutes. Someone sent me a clip of the young lady in the audience who demanded a new referendum because "She was lied to". Which made sense to me (obviously). I tell you what, as you recommended it, I will catch it on IPlayer, over lunch.

Through billions of arms sales to the likes of Saudi Arabia, causing death and destruction around the globe?

Trouble is though, in America it doesn't matter if he got millions of votes, it based on the electoral college system.
He only needs 250?? votes to win.
