Although our overall play was slow and boring at times. We still created quite a few chances. Even when playing against 11 during the first half, we hit the underside of the bar, Clarke missed a one on one where the keeper made a good save, Partington put the ball across the six yard box and it somehow stayed out. During the 2nd half Partington, Sercombe etc seemed to tire but they have been out for a while. The keeper made 2 good saves to deny Sercombe, one from range, but one close, when the ball dropped to him at the back post. We also had a few half chances. So although it was quite a poor performance,I don't think it was as bad as some are making out. That's true - we had only one shot on target v Luton ?

In hindsight losing a man in midfield for a striker was a mistake as they managed to stroll through our midfield with ease in the second half despite being a man down.

This side is no better than any of our recent relegation sides. No edge to us once again. At the risk of sounding obvious, every time we get a game changing player, they get bought by someone else. Taylor, bodin, Ellis. Even going back to carayol. When we find / develope, a player who can make his own space / time / goals, they want to leave and we sell him. Catch 22. Then we're left with basically 10 or 11 bog standard players. Usually, we have a standout performer who keeps us ticking over. Sercombe is decent but he’s not a match winner. We don’t have a tar man this season.

While two clean sheets and two points away from home may sound good, when looked at in the harsh light of day it just demonstrates that this will be a long hard Winter. We look as though we don't have a goal in us.

It’s good to see us tightening up the defence and making us one of the best in the division. Istr that the season we went out of the league our defence was ok, one of the better ones but we just couldn’t score and that really cost us our league place. Im not drawing comparisons with then but the inability to score goals usually costs a team. I just hope we can start to score because it could all turn around if we could and turn a middling season into a good one. I’m a Rovers fan so I’m always optimistic!! 😉 UTG!
