I agree, Ollie was poor in the first 20 minutes. But I didn't think he was out of position. He is a midfielder whose job is to defend and get forward. Ollie was part of a five man midfield that failed to support Tom Nichols or indeed get within 20 yards of him at times. Sorry. But balls. Ollie is our best box to box player, leaving him wandering around the centre circle whilst the ball sailed over his head, and then sailed over Nicholls head, was comical if it wasn't so sad. Fair enough. I think we watched different games! I agree he's our best box to box player but I don't recall him wandering around the centre circle like a no10. For me, he was just part of a standard 5 man midfield. Perhaps I just missed the detail!

I felt we were more than a shade lucky, we started the game with one striker up front (who has scored just a single goal in one and a quarter seasons). I feel the management got it wrong with the starting lime up, but luckily we managed to score two goals both of which were gifts from heaven.

Grateful for the win, but we wont get many more playing like that. DC has tried tinkered with just about everything and nothing seems to be working. Either the players just aren't bothered, or more likely aren't good enough. I agree. And now Marcus Stewart is sent out to do the Post match interviews. Like Wael, Marcus is hopeless at it. The post match interviews match the attacking prowess, blunt.

DC sets up a cautious side against a fellow relegation rival, in a match we really do not want to lose. He gets it right, and we win 2-0. Our defence yet again do the job. Best in League 1 at the moment. Result: "DC must go. We were terrible. We're doomed." Presumably these posters would have been happier with a plucky 3-4 defeat. I could sit back and critique plenty but these are exactly the type of games we have to win if we are to stay up this season and one way or another we took the points.

An important win tonight which was gained through a good degree of luck. Lets hope we have turned the corner before a couple of difficult away games. I dont understand why Bonham aimed his goalkicks at Nichols as he was the lone striker with no chance of retaining possession. Consequently Wimbledon were coming straight back at us. Surely it would be better to aim for the creative players in midfield. Trouble is put yourself in his place and ask who he can hit if a short ball is not on? Bennett, matthews or nichols? Same thing for craig taking free kicks in his own half.

Fellow Gas eds, i might analyse and dissect the performance tomorrow, but tonight my over riding feeling is just sheer bloody relief with the win and relief to get home to Chepstow after a mare of a journey due to shut slip roads and bridge! onward and upwards!!

Had the same journey, but another 20 minutes up the A48. Luckily I was anesthetized by the performance.

We haven't played any where near what we & no doubt DC wants us to play this season, can't score in a brothel & we find ourselves hovering around the bottom 4, and then we go and win 2-0. Lucky? Perhaps, but then I think we were unlucky to lose v Pompey & Walsall. Swings & Roundabouts. It wasn't as pretty as most would like but It was vital we didn't lose tonight and in the end we have 3 points in the bag. I rather that than play well & got nothing out of the game.

Just back and haven’t read the whole thread but for what it’s worth: We didn’t play well throughout but at times we did pass it around and made them look poor. A better team than AFCW would have been a few goals up at HT and won easily. Upson played as well as I’ve seen him and deserved the MOM closely followed by Craig or even Tom N. Nichols played well and despite being short kept on being fed high balls. Why? When it was on the ground he is good on the ball and he never gave up and kept their defence busy. And I’ve no idea what Payne did when he came on for Nichols, we were better off with Nichols on, at least he jumped for the ball, hassled their defence and never gave up. Payne never started. We are short of quality but we dug in and got a result, the players are giving their best for the team (and D.C.) so no complaints there. With a better No.9 up front we would be a far better team. We’ve too many players like Matthews and Bennett who are good on the ball but have little end product because when they look to put a cross in or pass into the box there’s no one there, so they cut back and play back to a colleague. For all the stick he gets on here Craig is playing very well and shows great commitment and didn’t lose too many headers against their giants. And when he went off with a cut, from where I was sat in the front row of the East Stand it looked bad, he was soon back on. That’s the kind of commitment we need at the moment. We weren’t very good but AFCW were poor and despite their size, it wasn’t matched by effort or skill. We’ll finish above them. Well done DC and well done the team, the 3 points are more important than the performance and it will give the team a lot of confidence I hope. Big test on Saturday against Barnsley. I guess that’s one match we’d be happy to have a 0-0 against! UTG!

We won't find the long ball bouncing back as often & even might help the likes of Nicholls & Riley

Is it really any wonder they don't look like they've met before they get on the pitch. I'm sure DC could produce any number of statistics and mileage charts to show who ran fastest and furthest in training but sending out this random selection every week is making it very hard for them to perform as a team

It's done us ok in the last 4 years anyway.

I’m sorry guys Big tone is f**king fantastic. He’s a credit to our defence. All hail Big Tone And alongside Lockyer has proved that our centre halves can win ball against big players. I think last night was exactly the sort of game Craig revels in. It wasn't pretty at all, but we hung in there and got ourselves a foothold. Not conceding when we were on the ropes in the first 20 minutes was key to that. One thing is for sure...despite the lack of quality on show at the moment, this team are absolutely playing for the manager. The commitment cannot be doubted. UTG

We won, great, but wow! What a boring game of football, to actually think I’m paying for three season tickets, for that😩

We won deservedly.
We didn’t create lots, but you don’t need to.
Said at the start of the season the defence is decent. Proving correct. Great defending by locks and Craig all evening.
Wimbledon poor.
Ollie Clarke was clearly playing in an attacking role with the aim of helping Nichols with the press... truthfully, it didn’t really work but wasn’t as mad an idea as some are suggesting.
Goals continue to be an issue. Need to be looking for that striker.
