Interested to know opinions as I'm sure they will vary given the lack of goals being scored by forwards this season.
For me, there is little doubt Nichols is the best player. Seems to be streets ahead of ALL our other strikers in almost every department.
As none of our other strikers look any more like scoring, I think Nichols should be one of the first names on the team sheet.
He at least brings something to the table. The team seems to play better with him in it because he's the only striker with any real ability or intelligence.
In my opinion he's been one of our better performers this season, particularly in recent weeks when he's been MOTM at least twice.
If we had someone like Telford banging in goals for the reserves then there would be a strong argument for giving him a chance. Unfortunately that isn't the case.
I honestly believe Nichols would have little trouble finding another league club if he was released, whereas Reilly and Payne would be lucky to find any takers in the Conference.
Having said all that, we desperately need to sign someone in January who can put the ball in the net as none of our strikers - Nichols included - look capable on that front.
I would imagine this poll might end up quite split. A bit different to comparing Taylor, Harrison, Bodin and even Gaffney.

Ollie Clarke.
This is hilarious......as it stands the only striker whom hasn't scored since captain caveman was alive is winning 1-0!
Probably an own goal by one of the others!
Absolutely unbelievable...

4 poor 'strikers' on the list but Nicholls best footballer by a distance, albeit should be playing in the hole.

What's strange is that all 4 strikers scored a reasonable amount of goals at their previous club prior to joining us. Why are they struggling so much at the moment for us? For me it's lack of confidence. The longer a striker goes without scoring, it becomes a "thing" for them to sort out, and the natural scoring instinct goes out the window. I think we're in the unfortunate position where all our strikers as a strikeforce are suffering from this, simultaneously.

Nichols by far. None of them can score and and Nichols is the only one with any footballing intelligence. We look better with him in the team.

Absolutely unbelievable... Agree. This is peak Rovers. A player who hasn't scored for a year is voted as our best striker, a striker who scored seven last season was wanted out and when Ellis was banging them in he should have been sent out on loan to Cheltenham - this is the zenith of Bristolian logic.

I wonder what the common denominator is with all these strikers - I guess we can add Mensah to the list as well - and we expect things to improve in the January window?

I thought Payne’s record was better than that, didn’t he take the penalties for the Shrews too? If I’m correct then a fair percentage of those 16 goals are from the spot! A scary set of stats all round, not good!

The thread title should be "Who is our current least sh** striker?".

And yet when Reilly played with Morgan and Magennis he got a barrel load at St Mirren? When they gave him the service He only scored 11 league goals last season. 22 goals overall, but 4 of those were against non-league Lothian Thistle, 2 against Hearts' U20 team and a further 4 against 3rd tier sides. The previous season 16/17 he only scored 1 goal in 22 games in the Scottish Championship. 5 league goals in 50 games for 15/16 and 16/17 seasons. Pish.
