For me I see him as a confidence player who currently has no confidence. I also see him as a player who is not good enough for this level. He should of gone on loan in the summer to a national league or national league south team, I think dc has only kept him because of the money spent on him and because of the club's failure to sign the right striking options in the summer. I don't agree. I think he did lose his confidence for a while, and was playing with his head down and doing the bare minimum, and it was annoying me. But recently his head is up again and he's finding people and being more creative. I think it's actually a decent effort from him and the staff to get his head up despite his awful scoring record. And I respect that and hope he gets the goals he deserves.

Is it bad that I can’t cast a vote?
Genuinely none are good enough for league 1.

Sure, I don't doubt his effort, and that is to be commended, as is the work of the coaching staff, I don't doubt his ability to link play either. The problem is his goal scoring (obviously), this thread is about strikers, and for me Nichols doesn't strike, he doesn't shoot much, when he does he doesn't look like scoring. That's why I'd like to have seen him play at a lower level and try to find some confidence in that all important part of his game. It seems he has always had struggles scoring, something psychological perhaps, but whatever it is it hasn't been solved by persisting with him in the Rovers first team.

Fantastic pass by him for the goal wasn’t it. What's he in the team for? Play him deep with two strikers if that's his job, no problem then, but if he's going to be called a striker then he has to do what strikers do: score goals - as a striker he is the worst in my near 30 years following the gas. We've had some rough players, but name one with a worse record than the nigh on 2 in 60!

Can’t fault his effort, he was great again today. Most creative player in the last month.

Hope he nets tomorrow just because LJG will be gutted Next week then maybe. 1) he set up our goal 2) are you really that was to come on here straight after the game to try and prove your point from earlier. And failed at it by the way as he played well.

Nichols was our second best player behind Sercombe today and has been one of our most consistently strong performers this season.
Yes he had one chance to score from an angle with his left foot but the keeper was out quick to block the shot. It was however another indication of his intelligent movement off the ball.
He's definitely our most creative player, setting up the goal with a great ball to Sercombe and could easily have had 2 or 3 assists. He played in Bennett for a great chance in the first half and beat 2 players before whipping in a cross which just evaded Sercombe at the back post in the second.
Exluding Exeter where he didn't play, he's directly contributed to 4 goals in our last 3 games.
In my opinion the TEAM would score less goals without Nichols in the team.

I don't have to prove anything. If I'm wrong I must have been at the pasty hut when he scored today then? I certainly saw the three touches he took before he scuffed his shot with only the keeper to beat. And I definitely saw him make a soft pass to Bennett when it was easier to shoot. Missed his goal though?

Best player Nichols but best striker jakubiak On what basis is Jakubiak our best striker, when put clean though V Burton he didn't even test the goalie. I've never known 4 strikers at Rovers who don't know how to score.

I've never known 4 strikers at Rovers who don't know how to score. Taylor missed countless one on ones, especially in his first season yet he was our most crucial striker since Lambert. How can you even begin to argue that one miss in a pressurised context means that he doesn't know how to score. Jakubiak deserves a chance of starting IMO, he's hungry for a chance and we've got nothing else to lose.

I wouldn't want to be the opposition team when Nicholls does finally score. They will probably have
Nicholls has scored Nicholls has scored How sh** must you be Nicholls has scored
ringing in their ears for days after.
