I love how you slam Nichols at the first opportunity yet talk about the others like they are lethal. Recently, we look better with Nichols in the team than without, whether he’s scoring or not, if we play better with him in the team then he should start. Not according to LJG's logic! Because my logic is based on logic i.e. fact - not just "I reckon".

Logic proves Nichols has 3 assists in the last two games, before that he was part of the strikeforce which helped us to a 2-0 over Wimbledon and his 2nd half performance v Oxford was possibly the best by a Rovers striker since Reilly scored v Coventry. Anyway I reckon DC thinks you are talking nonsense and will start with Nichols upfront tomorrow.

That's what you reckon. 60 appearances. 2 goals.

You quote historical facts to prove a present point, but Nichols is the striker who contributes more than the others at the present time, so DC is right to pick him at the present time.

Historical fact is the only indication of future performance we've got. And the only reason I have to quote history is because it's so long since he's scored a goal.

All these backers of Nichols have evidently had their expectations lowered!
We are Gasheads and we are used to getting by without, but you can't get by without goals.
Nichols may be a likeable lad, he may put in the effort, but he can't strike a ball, he averages less than 1 league goal a season!
We need to play two of the others up top as partners for a run of games.

Hope he nets tomorrow just because LJG will be gutted I hope he does too. To take his total to a dazzling 3 in 61.

It’s been 383 days since Nichols last scored a league goal and he’s been in the starting eleven plenty during that time. As much as I thought he did well on Sunday, you can’t justify starting a striker with that kind of record. Do we have anybody better at this moment in time ?

Yes, the other three, who, remarkably, have actually scored this season!!!

I believe Payne is our best striker but his head doesn't seem to be in it currently.
We saw what he could do when he first joined, not sure why we haven't seen any of that since.

Nichols will score someday, when he does he'll go on a little run, lots of Gasheads will get excited with "I told you so" and then he'll be back to the usual can't hit a barn door rubbish. That's been his way his whole career. (Blank lines indicate new season).

For me I see him as a confidence player who currently has no confidence. I also see him as a player who is not good enough for this level. He should of gone on loan in the summer to a national league or national league south team, I think dc has only kept him because of the money spent on him and because of the club's failure to sign the right striking options in the summer.
