For me last night's game showed that Jak has suddenly become very important for us. I really wish Steph and Tom could be successful though, but it doesn't seem to happen.

What is the connection with attending these matches and the U21 playing in the EFL? The big clubs have so much money and power they do what they want. So if no one turns up for this cup they will do it anyway won't they? I agree very strongly they shouldn't be in this cup or our league, but will they listen to the fans of smaller clubs anymore? Football is like retail, big supermarkets and corner shops, then Tesco Express come along to f**k up the corner shop. Because every time Shaun Harvey opens his gob to justify the competition he invokes the attendances, and he's already proposed B teams in the EFL. You can ask 'will they listen' and that's a reasonable question, but the only thing we have that can be listened to is not turning up. This seems to be the main argument but this proposal was rejected nearly 3 years ago and will be rejected again the next time it ever comes up.
Clubs agreeing to include the U21 teams in an already meaningless, under supported cup, does not mean that the next stage is going to be B teams in the EFL. It's more of a compromise due to offering an improved cash incentive to clubs for a cup they didn't care about anyway. For B teams to be included in the league, the EFL would need the support of the majority of clubs which they didn't get and will never get.
I don't agree with the U21s in the Checkatrade, but I have no issue with people that go and don't see how attendance in the competition will have any bearing on a matter that has already been put to bed. The decisions on this are also made by the clubs, not the fans. The only games I can see the benefit of boycotting are against the U21 sides so it goes back to just being a trophy for the lower league sides.

Whilst I don't like the inclusion of u-21 teams, the prize money per game/round is well up from the previous model, mainly paid by the Premier League. I guess we can't have it both ways!

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by 'put to bed,' but I'd be amazed if this isn't proposed again in the near future, and I'd be amazed if, when they do, they don't mention that the lower league teams have already played U23 teams, so it's nothing new.

From the BBC website at the time... Meanwhile, the idea to include Premier League B teams in any restructure which formed part of the Football Association commission's four-point plan to boost English football, has also been rejected. BBC Radio 5 live sports news correspondent Richard Conway "A radical revamp of the Football League structure was first proposed in May. "The changes would see the introduction of a new 'League Three', resulting in 100 clubs in total within the professional pyramid. "The big question for the EFL concerns where these extra clubs will come from? "Today officials announced they will NOT be drawn from Premier League B teams or from Scotland. And that's significant given the reported interest from Rangers and Celtic in joining up with their southern counterparts. "It also puts the final nail in the coffin on the B team debate, which first came to prominence in 2014 when Greg Dyke's much criticised commission of inquiry into English football reported its findings.

Gas v Pompey or Sunderland final!!! imagine the atmosphere gotta go aint you? It's still a team from the north vs a team from the south in the final despite all their mucking about with it isn't it? That would mean we couldn't play Pompey in the final?

Yes, I've read this before, but the idea that someone writes in a BBC article that they've put the final nail in the coffin means that the EFL might somehow be obliged to never raise the issue again is a bizarre one. In any case these proposals aren't even happening.
