With three U-21 teams in the last 16, (Chelsea, Man City, Newcastle) there has to be a moderate possibility that at least one U-21 team will make the final. The main focus of the competition for clubs and sponsors is the Wembley final. One U-21 team at Wembley would greatly reduce the attendance and two U-21 teams would mean a tiny gate which would surely make Checkatrade wonder why they bothered to be sponsors. If Newcastle kids reach the final they will bring their full allocation. They'd take a couple of thousand at best.

Can't see why anyone would get rid of Upson based on the games since GC took over and was given a fair chance. Been the best of all the midfielders during that period and personally I would use tonights game to play
Bonham
J Clarke Lockyer Broadbent Kelly
Rodman Sercombe Upson Holmes-Dennis
Payne Jacubiak
This is based on Craig being 1 booking off a suspension although surely it is now 10 bookings???

Yes it's 10 bookings now - and I'm certain that bookings etc in the checkatrade are completely separate to the proper football matches - i.e. not counted other than within the trophy competition itself. s for the team tonight - I hope we put out the strongest possible, but if anyone has any knocks or niggles it would be best not to risk them.

I wouldn't differ too much from that although I wouldn't mind THD getting a run out at left back to see what he offers there. In front of him I'd experiment with Matthews. GC wants left footed players down the left and although Matthews prefers to play central or coming in off the right he should be encouraged to stake a claim for the left wing slot. up front I would like to see Jak playing as far forward as possible with Nichols (our most technically gifted attacker) just behind in the number 10 position to see if they can form a partnership.

This game is worth £40k to the winner so I hope we will take this game seriously.

But we might have found enough to pay for our own training ground by then if we keep winning the trophy!

No Bennett? Surprised Nichols doesn't even get a start.
