So what happens if it gets to 5pm and they haven’t informed the EFL then? Instant removal from the league or is there a sort of appeal period?

Staying on the Brighton topic...
Them going to Gillingham after selling the Goldstone and not having a plan (or a chance) of a new stadium DID lead to a similar EFL ruling / vote, so it's not entirely new.
"With the Goldstone demolished for the new retail park, the Football League allowed Albion to share with Gillingham provided £500,000 was lodged as a guarantee that the club would return within three years. The “Seagulls” survived a League motion to expel them and found themselves playing 70 miles away at the Priestfield Stadium."

But what happens then if the clubs vote in favour of the club retaining their membership out of sympathy but Coventry still can’t find a place to play?

Seeming as it seems quite likely that 75% of EFL clubs wouldn't vote them out of the league, I wonder what the point of this is at all

As an aside, i have just had a read of the internet font of all knowledge (wikipedia). It says that according to 442 magazine, the Ricoh Arena is the worst stadium of the entire 92 football league clubs - so, worse than the Mem!

Ricoh is a cracking ground, with a casino attached makes it brilliant place for a pre-match pint; I for one, already looking forward to our visit to play Cov on Sunday, 7th April. Personally, I do not see the EFL kicking Coventry out of the league, just like Brighton, Portsmouth, et el, they will rise again from the ashes while we will continue to bounce between the bottom leagues while waiting for "evolution", what ever the **** that means ?

Trust me, it's an awful stadium. Not the worst I've been too, but certainly in the top 5. For the record I've (idiotically) been to 343 grounds.

Not today, but we have managed to be in almost every bad situation a club can be in so we might get round to it. Anything else you want to depress the hell out of us with? Maybe a meteorite crashing into the Mem tonight? The Welly refusing to serve beer to home fans? Sausage rolls found out to not contain sausage? Jesus, anyone want to go have a beer with you?

I read this sort of comment about places like the Ricoh a lot, and I've never understood it. In what sense is it awful? The legroom? The facilities? The view? The access? The ability to expand? The potential? Or is it the lack of pillars, stained concrete, peeling paint, or rain-soaked fans? Ok, a 32,000 seater with only 8,000 fans rattling around is never going to produce a good atmosphere, but that's not the fault of the stadium. When they design these new awful stadiums, why don't they go for that authentic retro look (and save a lot of money) by having uncovered ends, or food huts scattered around the car park?

I wouldn't be surprised if whoever wrote that article was a Leicester or other Midlands club fan. No way is it the worst of the 92.

Feel very sorry for the Coventry fans if they end up getting relegated or demoted. Great club with cracking fanbase.
Sorry state of affairs and shows why imo we can’t become fan owned/self sustaining quickly enough. If push ever came to shove I fully expect the AQ’s would sell the Mem land also leaving us homeless, and from purely a business point of view I wouldn’t blame them.

The FourFourTwo article was based on the entire match day experience, so not really a surprise that the Ricoh came last. Fwiw The Mem came 46th. 46. Bristol Rovers (Memorial Stadium) In five words or less: Ragtag collection of stands Most recent visit: 2016/17 Best feature: Pitchside portable toilet – handy for one substitute who was bursting for a pee Worst feature: A curious assortment of different stands, including two marquees and a stand that looks like it’s come straight from a racecourse Quirk factor: 5/5 Read more at www.fourfourtwo.com/features/ranked-matchday-experience-all-92-english-league-stadiums?page=0%2C4#tvvf6aeoWsqmuELa.99

I've been to the Ricoh - I took my daughter to the women's FA cup final so not a large crowd, and minimal atmosphere. I was impressed by the stadium and facilities, and the view.
