The Ricoh is a great modern stadium with everything that we don't have.
I have been there this year, I think there was around 13k for that game and the Coventry fans made a good fist of an atmosphere. If they ever got back up into the higher reaches of the championship they would easily get close to capacity.

I couldn't stand having to go to that stadium week in and week out. Its a dreadful, soulless bowl of a place. I just hope, if we were ever to build a stadium, it would at least have some semblance of character.

Ricoh is a cracking ground, with a casino attached makes it brilliant place for a pre-match pint; I for one, already looking forward to our visit to play Cov on Sunday, 7th April. Personally, I do not see the EFL kicking Coventry out of the league, just like Brighton, Portsmouth, et el, they will rise again from the ashes while we will continue to bounce between the bottom leagues while waiting for "evolution", what ever the **** that means ? Trust me, it's an awful stadium. Not the worst I've been too, but certainly in the top 5. For the record I've (idiotically) been to 343 grounds.
Based on what with respect ? me like many on here have been to the Ricoh and the only thing against it is that the surrounding area is a bit light on amenities. Brilliant ground although Highfield Road was more "proper". I am convinced only the clubs who would survive relegation would vote to kick them out and I am sure that they will be plying their trade in L1 next season.

Spectators make bowls "soulless" Consider all the bowls across the world where the atmospheres are electric.

I actually like the Mem, but that doesn't mean that I don't understand why we need a new stadium to move forward. Out of interest what would you determine to be a "semblance of character"? what would a new stadium have to have? and how could a stadium builder ensure that it is incorporated?

First thing I would insist on for a brand new stadium is to fill in the corners. Four separate stands is the way to go, imo. I realise it's probably an inefficient use of space, though.

I personally like that. Think Sampdoria. You could put Corporate boxes in the inserts if you wanted to.

Interesting point of view. Why do you think that? For atmosphere? Yeah, feels like it. It might just be my imagination, though. Fans being spread out thinly and acoustics? Concentrate home fans in blocks or tiers (only open other sections if crowd numbers dictate) and maybe even use microphones and tannoys to project noise in empty sections. Feedback could be interesting though!

I’ll just be happy to sit in a new ground with some atmosphere, somewhere I can call our home before I kick the bucket. It’s been a long, long wait. 😉 UTG!

Blimey. So a reprieve for a League One side and presumably another automatic in the Conference? Has this happened before? I'm not sure if 21st would stay up, or if another team would be promoted from L2? Only 3 would go down

I sat on the halfway line, half way up the stand, yes there were spare seats around me but there was good noise and atmosphere, you could also hear the opposite stand of fans as well as the away team having a good sing song. The view was great, the pitch was superb, the bars and food halls were good value too. Its only quieter there because the club has been a victim of poor management at board level which resulted in them dropping from the Prem to L2. Like us, they deserve better.

It's just a matter of aesthetics. I find it a really dull place to be whether empty, half full or whatever. Like many of these modern stadiums they're built to maximise the number of people per square metre and enable as much of the add on products to be available to the customer. I don't think it would take much imagination to come up with a design that had some pleasing aspect to the eye.

Everyone seems to love Bramall Lane. I've never been there, but they seem to have developed an old stadium with separate stands and yet still filled in the corners.

New spurs ground is to have ‘square corners’ and a 3tier bank for home fans which should look and sound amazing when opened

Coventry City given time to finalise plan to stay at Ricoh Arena by EFL The English Football League have given League One club Coventry City further time to finalise their plans to remain at the Ricoh Arena in 2019-20. City's owners remain in a legal dispute with Premiership club Wasps, the Ricoh's owners, and Coventry City Council. Both have said that they will not enter negotiations while that is ongoing. If it is not resolved by 2 April, EFL clubs will be notified about a meeting to decide Coventry's future. The EGM would take place on 25 April, at which Coventry could face expulsion from the league. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47475213
