Donny have been on a poor run of form and only been averaging around a Ipswich game, they are hardly Ipswich, although missing two of our best players in JCH and Sercs can't help. You've kind of contradicted your earlier posts here Topper. To be clear, I STILL think Nicholls is a Twat and a useless C###. Where's the contradiction, Donny have been on a poor run of form on paper we should have at least matched them today, the fact is we didn't and were well beaten, we got a fortunate pen which Nichols missed, doesn't alter the fact we were poor all afternoon. if you want to follow your typical form on here of using foul language to try and get your opinion across then carry on if it makes you feel a bigger man than the rest if us.

Because Im sure that we have had worse finishers at our club during our history than Tom...I hope we have at least given that he is still starting for us today.😨😕 He is by far,far the worse finisher for any striker we have had that I can remember. Micky Evans, Luke James & Payne have been equally poor, it seems DC/MS were good at identifying non goal scorers! This just simply isn't true. Evans scored 4 in 21 appearances. Luke James failed to score in 24 appearances. Payne 2 in 20 appearances. Nichols 3 in 83. (League goals only. Stats per wikipedia). This idea that he is just another damp squib in a string of similar others is total fiction, he is a lot worse by far with having had many more opportunities. The same goes for the lie that we score more goals with him on the pitch than without him - someone on here did the maths on that and proved it was simply confirmation bias from those refusing to acknowledge that he has failed here. I feel truly sorry for the guy. It must be awful to fail at your dream so publicly but sorry, I care more about Rovers than I do him and I'm sure his salary makes up for it. Bottom line is Darragh MacAntony has been running a league one player farm for over a decade. If Peterborough thought he was any good you can guarantee we wouldn't have picked him up for £350,000.

Luke James tried but was nothing else for us in his 24 games here. Paynes attitude, laziness and personality was the problem with him .But he looked like if he wanted to and put the effort in that he would score goals at L1 level. His record says that at shewsbury as well.Different quality of finisher if could be arsed. All three players were awlful for us for different reasons. Tom while he puts in the effort, which has brought him alot,I mean alot of time here from the fans is the most shocking "deer caught in head lights" finshers Ive seen at our club.He finishes like a 10 year old blind girl.Thats not a dig for a the sake of it but his record for chances given is behind awlful. Worst "Striker" we have ever had at our club in regards to not scoring goals. Not a fans of calling him a lady garden etc..but I understand why some would.

GC has got to take as much, if not more, of the blame than TN, plus god knows what he was thinking starting with OC who looked semi fit at best.

I just hope, against hope, that GC drops that useless lightweight and plays Victor of Deon instead.
They must look at him getting picked week after week in despair. If I were one of them I'd be wondering WTF I had to do to get picked.

He’s a striker, strikers should score goals and strikers take and score penalties. It’s their bread and butter. Tom Nichols has a consistent record of doing neither and trying to score that type of cheeky penalty away from home is just plain stupid. When I was coached I had one manager who went through penalty drills with all us strikers. He motto was as high as you can as hard as you can. Just like Mansell at Wembley. Occasionally you may crack the bar and occasionally the keeper will pull off a good save but 90% of the time they are out of reach. I was the penalty taker at every club I played for, must have scored 30 odd pens and I missed once after the keeper got his fingers to it and pushed it onto the bar. Ok I didn’t have the pressure of league football and 1000s of fans but it’s still 12 yards, a football a goal and a keeper and Nichols is a much better footballer than I ever was. Aguerro has missed several penalties.

Bullshit.. The guy is paid very, very well by our football club to do a job which he does not do,and has never done since joining our club. 3 years of support our fanbase has given him while in all honestly he has been horseshit! We have just dressed the fact up.. That pen was a disgrace and is the reason why we are 2-0 right now. Its not "bullying" to speak the god damm truth. Telling Rovers player to "f off" and they are "-s" is personal abuse not telling the truth, as I've said already GC picks him he should be the one taking the stick as he clearly sees something the rest of us don't see in Nichols.'v, likewise OC should have never started today. Who should have started after the sercombe injury?

TN should have started on the bench like most games regardless if JCH is fit or not. I said in threads on here at the time that TN should still be on the bench regardless his 2/3 goal purple patch a few months ago,but I was shot down saying that he must start as he scored! Tom is not a natural finisher. His two goals he scored in back to back games- one from outside the box, and that 6 yard box twist and turn was a flukes.Im willing to put my left bollox on the the line that he would not be able to do either strike again if he tried. Tom has something about him,but not as a finisher. His career is being destroyed here by being put into spots like today as he is just not good enough to do the job and score. That Pen was one of the worst Ive ever seen.

First loss in 7 games. It was going to come eventually. Although we had a chance to go ahead in the game, we have two home games to follow. No better way to bounce back.

Maybe its because one is a more defensive manager in GC and cant see this, and the other one DC lost the plot during the last year of his time here? ( I love both as our managers btw. ) Or Maybe its because of the money the clubs invested in him?

Summary from an expert it says on FB. 'Doncaster play round 3-5-2 The hosts' movement on and off the ball made the Gas' formation look rather static. It has brought them success so far this season, but on Saturday Rovers' 3-5-2 formation looked exposed, particularly on the wings, where Luke Leahy and Alex Rodman found themselves struggling with multiple players running at them.
The Gas did switch to 4-4-2 in the second half, but by that point the game had gone. Whilst the way Rovers set up certainly has its benefits against teams that sit off them, the way Doncaster were able to bypass Rovers' .

Teams playing with fullbacks and wingers will double up on the full back and play one two around him. Good to hear Coggers saw it and went 442 but obviously it didn’t make any difference to the result. Doesn’t help that we’ve not really got enough or good enough wingers to make 442 work. Rodman the only player at the club who’s good enough to play on the wing in this division.
