Why would we not be promoted? Wycombe are still in amongst it. As for the ‘promoted too early’ rubbish that’s doing the rounds. Let’s find out first. You need only three teams to be worse than you. The club believed that they would suffer in the longer-term if they went up this season. It was costed and deemed too risky. I genuinely think GC had a chance, but the foundations were built of sand. I can understand the ownership thinking that the club would have dropped like a stone if they did go up to the Championship. Can you imagine the investment the playing squad would have required to make even a decent fist of it? There was a real fear that one relegation might put into sequence a chain of events that would have us being consecutively being relegated back down to league two.

Weird thread. For some it seems 4th place after 20 games = imminent promotion and local derbies. Full list of graham coughlans promotions below. Zero i have no idea what point you’re trying to make. He took over from your favourite manager’s cock up and saved us from relegation. Along with the players I might add. Then had us in fourth position half way through the season. A weird post for sure. Im just glad dc didnt wander off to manage crawley town half way through the conference season or maybe stevenage during the league 2 promotion seasons. You win nothing by being 4th after 20 games and so far in his managerial career coughlan won nothing.

Then had us in fourth position half way through the season. A weird post for sure. Right. Some Rovers fans genuinely aren't bothered about tumbling out of the play-offs/challenging for automatic because they thought it was a false position. Those fans seem to ignore that since GC took charge (around 12 months) that Rovers were SECOND in the form table. It wasn't a fluke that the club were 4th. Whether they could have sustained it is doubtful, but they wouldn't have fallen away like it has under BG. Coughlan decided to quit though remember?

I think it was known that success would come in the longer, not the shorter, term and, for a lot of reasons, that makes more sense at the moment. I'm advocating for reducing the ticket prices off the back of all this.

He hasn’t completed a full season yet as a manager. But then you know that.

Seems some on here only see the negatives of promotion. CLub is all but going through its final rites as it is at the moment so still don't see the fear of wanting to succeed while we still have a club

In all seriousness. If results don't matter for the next 14 games, and we're invited along to watch glorified training sessions and practice matches, then the club should reduce the ticket prices accordingly. Glorified training sessions are you for real,Sunderland,Ipswich,Lincoln,Rochdale,Shrewsbury and Burton all involved in promotion or relagation, come on Gas let’s beat them all,I’m a season ticket holder and will attend every game it’s better than going shopping just about 😂 UTG I think after yesterday I’ve changed my mind and won’t attend another Chuffing game 😡 lol.

Yesterday's game and result has been a tipping point for many fans.
A number of fans travel considerable distances to watch Rovers home matches. In fact they travel past numerous clubs with better facilities and more enjoyable match day experiences. But we follow Rovers for a multitude of reasons. However, that support is starting to weaken because we have been let down by the club both on and off the pitch.
Once a club starts to take its fans for granted the slide into mediocrity becomes very difficult to arrest.
