Let's see what he can do this week as we've 3 tough looking friendlies coming up. True - I still look back fondly at the cracking season we had under Buckle following the impressive pre-season results & performances under him. Buckle was a bit of freak manager, probably not helped by Campbell still be on the playing staff, DC's last season shows if we have a poor pre-season it usually continues into the full season, hopefully, yesterday will be a wakeup call for the players. |

I'm pleased that fans have posted their views be it positive or negative. There seems to be an attitude amongst some of us that Garner is the new up and coming manager and the signings are the same so any criticism should be suppressed. I've always been proud to be a Gashead because we are a down to earth bunch who say it like we think it is. I'm sure most of us who thought it was awful yesterday are not projecting that onto the rest of the season, but taking it out of context yesterday was truly awful and we definitely can't play anywhere near that when the league and cup games start.

Cannot blame any naysayers on here, BG's Managerial record to date with us stinks worse than Baldricks underpants. Both BG and the team need a more-than-decent start to the season for any confidence in Garnerball to take hold

Great, I’ll expect us to play like Brazil in our opening game then seeing as yesterday has absolutely no relevance to the style of play we will use in competitive games. Thanks for putting my mind at rest and raising the bar to judge Garner and the players by! |

You're right we do need a draw a line somewhere if the performances are poor for the first X number of games of the season, as the excuses will run out eventually. I just worry that on the evidence of this thread, the line will be drawn unreasonably early for some supporters. I really hope we start reasonably well, as this place will be a horror show if we don't. Some of the comments in this thread show why the Mem being empty for the start of the season will probably be a help to the team, not a hindrance. Very well said ... funny how it was the same people who were touching themselves with excitement at the new faces coming in .. Now after a f**king pre season game they are worried about the Manager and on players not playing for him. Your poison will spread to the wider fanbase ... really hard to think you even support our team |

Similar to all the doom and gloom that was posted after the Exeter game. It was a pre season friendly, basically played on The Downs. They mean very little.
