This obsession with possession football is nonsensical. Apparently, Leicester had something like 30% possession yesterday and thrashed City 5-2 at the Etihad. Two points: 1. L1 defenders are not generally very skilful on the ball. If they were, they would be playing at a higher standard. The exceptions tend to be young players learning their craft and destined for better things. One example was Kilgour who flourished under the mentorship of Craig. 2. Unless there is a degree of creativity and preferably, pace in midfield a team won't score many goals. Don't expect L1 strikers to keep scoring wonder individual goals - although JCH did for a time. In fact any striker needs service. No service equals no goals. Leicester also had the lowest possession percentage the year they won the premier league. It’s fine to play a possession based game if your one of the top sides in your division and you’ve got the players to do it. But we aren’t and we haven’t. Simple as that. In a country known for it’s technical ability with the ball Atletico Madrid managed to win the league and reach numerous champions league finals despite playing a style that relied on counter-strikes. I’ve never bought into the idea that possession is king, each pass increases the chances of a move breaking down. Incisive possession with the ball whilst playing at a quick tempo and solid defending without it is the perfect marriage of efficiency and style. It sounds like Coventry were of that mould last season.

It’s fine to play a possession based game if your one of the top sides in your division and you’ve got the players to do it. But we aren’t and we haven’t. Simple as that. And of course L1 is very different than the PL. most managers will not have the same opinion as those in the PL, they will play to their strengths not taking an idealistic approach. You start off by using the players you’ve got and suit the style to them, as did GC. BG did it the other way round when he took over. Now he’s recruited players who he thinks can play the way he wants to we will see how good he is at moulding teams to play his way and how he can compete with other managers. At the moment it’s not going well and the possession stats don’t look any better this season than last. I don't really care about possession stats, they look nice if you’re winning and fans can show off about them but without good results they mean very little. Actually, if you have good possession and lose you’re just ineffective and are no better than having little possession. We have neither, possession nor results. So either the players aren’t as good as we’d hoped or our manager hasn’t the ability to create a style of play or mould the players into a team. Either of those are worrying. (Of course we might have just been unlucky for 20 games, but that’s a bit of a stretch I think.) UTG!

Who do we want? Who is available? I'd like you to be our next manager, and maybe then you'd shut up about getting rid of our current one. The guy had to work with players who weren't his own last season, not suited to the style of play which he was looking to adopt. This season he has just signed a completely new team who have competed with 3 of the best teams in the division for large parts of each fixture. We're a work in progress, and obviously need to get in a winning run as soon as possible, but if the players believe in him, then that's half the battle, and more than enough for me as a fan. I've never had a problem with you personally in the past, but this constant manager bashing is getting a bit stale now. The players that weren't his own that took us to 4th in the table before bottler Ben got his hands on the job. You've clearly forgot the mass array of players he was allowed to bring in January too.

Now it may be fair to blame it on poor training/conditioning or warming up, but all of those signings were injured at some point after they signed, making it a lot harder to get his change of ethos across. The problem with calling for the head of the manager when things aren't going the way you dream of them going, is that you're never going to be happy. Unless we're winning the Premier league or major trophies, you're always going to be wanting more more more. We were playing non league a few years ago FFS, and now you're suggesting that if we're not pushing seriously for the Championship, then we should sack the manager! So we get promoted, then what? We sack the manager if we don't go up to the Premier league? You're aspirations are unrealistic, unsustainable or just plain delusional!

If we don’t axe him then, we will be back in the conference. Happy with that? Happy with sticking with him? Is that sustainable? Is it really delusional to expect a manager who has won 2 games in 23 or whatever it is now to be beyond being able turn it around? I don’t understand where Ben has bought this ridiculous loyalty from? If we had a manager who was seeing us progress season to season, even if it meant a mid table finish this year, a mid table finish next, followed by a shot at the playoffs after that then fine as long as were looking to progress and not resting on our laurels. It’s not a chain of disliking managers, it’s a recognition that this guy is beyond incompetent at being a manager and will only get us relegated despite the fact he likes to parade around making it out as if he’s the next Klopp.

No point in debating it further. I respect that some people may be of the 3 games mindset, and that they may think it’s prudent to give him a few more games. I guarantee that this will all end in tears though.

Could understand it if his record was mediocre but he's the worst manager in our history FFS. Possibly the worst manager of all time full stop. Yeh, let's just stick with him for the sake of it. I've been supporting the Gas since 1974 and can remember all of the promotions and relegations in that time, and can't remember any since BG took over, but we do have a better youth setup, training ground and more talented players.

Sorry I forgot that Ben is responsible for the training ground Wael has paid for, youth setup that Chris Hargreaves has been assembling for years. I also forgot about all the points that Ben managed to Garner before he was even appointed that saved us from relegation despite the form since 26th December. We must thank Ben for all of the positive off the field things he has been doing, plus also our fantastic on the field results too. Nothing to do with him...... and how many years you’ve been supporting Rovers has nothing to do with it. You’ll have another relegation to add to your remember list come next May if the board doesn’t act soon though

Wael backed Garner thats the reason for the training ground-Take off your blinkers then you may understand where the gas are going-and dont reply going down as that's getting over used and boring and continually spouted by The Negatives

Essentially two camps: Garner has had over 20 games to prove his worth and he has to go. Or he has only had 3 games against tough opposition and so he needs more time. Both views are irreconcilable. The common denominator is that both camps want us to succeed. One camp says that success will never happen with Garner at the helm. The other camp comprises people that wish to give him varying lengths of time to improve our playing fortunes. Time will tell who was right ......

Garner pushed to get the training ground done, or have you forgotten the frustration of both the previous managersthat nothing was moving on that front. You predict relegation, but giving him a chance to change or style of play. There have been flashes of what he's trying to do so far this season, and we just need to cut out the silly errors. Obviously the time I've been supporting the club is irrelevant, but I was merely highlighting that you were making up relegations which haven't happened.
