Great to get the win and some excellent performances especially Hanlan and Tutunda. Harries and Westbrooke both played well and even Grant improved in the second half. Could easily have scored 4 or 5 against a poor Northampton side.

Happy with the clean sheet and the dominance against 10 men. Something I have seldom seen us do. I’m not convinced, but that is an interesting positive to be fair.

Really pleased for BG a very good win and we never really looked in trouble.
Lots of positives today Hanlan,Tutonda and Harries all had impressive games, we played some really nice football that will go a long way to putting some real confidence in the camp. How we never scored 4 or 5 is beyond me, the cobblers got away without a real battering. UTG.

Well that was a joy to watch! I’m half watered. Curry delivery on the way in 30 minutes. Alexa now going full blast, watering off the neighbours. Cat scared and disappeared with all the shouting. ✅ A pleasant evening ahead. What a time to be alive! Well done you blue boys, UTG! 👍 AND A SPECIAL MENTION FOR BEN, well done! 😁

Two poor teams for 55 minutes but was a Good comfortable win in the end and should have been more. Penalty and then obviously the red card changed the game.
Really impressed with Tutonda. Hanlan did well.

Tutonda and Hanlon my MotM, Nicholson looked useful late on, Jaakola didn't have one save to make. Good to see Hare back in the side. Not sure what the BG10/BG out mod will do all week now they must be well and truly gutted it was a convincing win! We don’t all have the fickleness to flip flop from out to in like you do Topper 😛 That’s 3 in 25 now so still absolutely bloody appalling over all. As such BG needs a string of wins to show that this wasn’t just the one game in 10 that he usually tends to win. Imo he should be trying to win the game in midweek to capitalise but I expect he will put out a reserve side and bask on his laurels.

Good to see us not dick about with it at the back too. Nice direct quick tempo football the way it should be played at this level and the players looked much more comfortable. Not going to get carried away , Northampton looked a poor side but it’s a building block for us to push on now.

Way too early to say we’ve turned a corner but plenty of positives today. The keeper and three centre backs keep a clean sheet. The two wingbacks were excellent and BG should be praised for the brave switch in dropping Leahy who has been the best outfield player this season. Westbrooke had a good second half after being a bit wasteful in good positions first half - the step over for Nicholson’s chance was very clever and showed great awareness. Up top Hanlon was a real handful and was unlucky not to get a second. Hope we use this as a springboard for the upcoming games and that the fans give the new signings a fair crack - Baldwin and Westbrooke already seem to have been picked as season scapegoats by some ‘fans’. Great post, very much agree. Those 'fans' have gone very quiet, obviously not happy that the result doesn't fit their agenda!

Excellent win today...and excellent performance. Some outstanding displays with Hanlon showing great power and skill throughout - unlucky not to score more. Well done Gas and well done Ben Garner and the boys!

Phew, feels great to have that first win, and hopefully that's the start of a good run now.
I think the penalty and red card gave us the impetus we needed to be able to release the shackles and play with some confidence. Time to carry that forward now and ensure it wasn't a blip. Well done the players and BG!
UTG!

Feels odd not wanting to moan after watching that second half. Got so used to a good moan so this feels very odd in a good way UTG

Keith Curle's triple substitution has to be the most ineffective one I've ever seen. It made them worse which is quite some going as they were dreadful before that. Nice to put away a team that turned up for a point.

A much better second half and much more pleasing on the eye but if we want to avoid a relegation battle let alone do well we need to be able to get into second gear without having to rely on a penalty to get us ahead and a red card for us to play like we did when they went down to ten men. We should have finished many of the opportunities we had and I’m concerned about our finishing and our responsiveness on the ball when we get on the break. Right now from what I can see this just papers over the cracks. Pleased we got three points on the board. Wasn't exactly a lucky penalty though was it? Hanlon forced Bolger into a mistake and to be honest had him in his pocket all afternoon.

Northampton were poor but lets give our team some credit, we were comfortable throughout and never game them a sniff. Thought we were excellent 2nd half and once the 2nd goal went in you could see the confidence levels rise. We do have some very gifted players the challenge now is to recreate that 2nd half performance against the better sides. Tutonda really impressed me and both Westbrooke & Grant got better & better as the game went on. It's a shame we didnt finish a couple of the chances we created later in the game but definite signs of improvement. Happy Sat night gasheads

Not going to get carried away , Northampton looked a poor side but it’s a building block for us to push on now. That’s probably the most encouraging thing I’ve read. We surely aren’t good enough to play without some sort of tempo. Dithering and allowing opponents to reset is criminal at our level.

Hanlan did well. Whilst it didn't click for us first half at least we attempted to win the game. By no means a complete performance but certain areas were improved today such as defending from set pieces.

Lets remember Northampton were crap whan they had 11 men, let alone 10. Probably one of, if not the easiest game of the season. We will see how good he is when we reach 12 games.
