Relieved to get the points today and thought the guys did well in patches.
Pleased at last to see Hare and Tutonda start and play with two up top- Hanlan looked very decent and can give as good as he gets.
Nicholson looked up for it when he came on ... Good energy. Would keep the same team next Saturday and take it to Lincoln.
Northampton were awful but we beat them and we go again!!

HANLAN does not have an "o". Knew you'd find something to moan about. The auto correct on my phone is probably worth its own thread.

Penalty being mentioned as a turning point, to be fair it was awarded after some good football which resulted in a break into the box, so positive forward momentum resulted in a foul being conceded in the box, that will do for me.

From the second goal until the end was the best football we have played this season. Good to have Nicholson back who will be key for us this season. Of course we should have scored more goals but it was nice to two though! Tutonda had a good game. No mistakes or sloppy ness at the back. Dont think Daley is good enough for this level yet.

Way too early to say we’ve turned a corner but plenty of positives today. The keeper and three centre backs keep a clean sheet. The two wingbacks were excellent and BG should be praised for the brave switch in dropping Leahy who has been the best outfield player this season. Westbrooke had a good second half after being a bit wasteful in good positions first half - the step over for Nicholson’s chance was very clever and showed great awareness. Up top Hanlon was a real handful and was unlucky not to get a second. Hope we use this as a springboard for the upcoming games and that the fans give the new signings a fair crack - Baldwin and Westbrooke already seem to have been picked as season scapegoats by some ‘fans’. Great post, very much agree. Those 'fans' have gone very quiet, obviously not happy that the result doesn't fit their agenda! I doubt that they have gone quiet they are likely celebrating a great day for the gas same as you and me. Fans had every right to be down about recent results, but this result is a great lift and I'm sure all gasheads are a bit happier tonight.

Excellent result a clean sheet a to be honest a totally dominant display I only can remember them having one chance. Hopefully this is a turning point to our season with a very young side learning there trade .I can see plenty of ups and downs to come this season but there is so much ability there the future looks bright.

I won’t be doing Tuesday as I don’t care about the Mickey Mouse cup, but happy to start the thread for the Lincoln game, see if I can make it 3 wins on the bounce😉

A much better result and performance today. Hopefully this gives some confidence and we can build on this now. Whilst I'm not overly concerned about Tuesday, I hope we do play a strong team and we put in a strong and decent performance and get another win to build a bit of momentum now....

People said give him 10 games, he’s won one of the ten and we’re now promotion contenders. So I’m still not convinced personally and I worry that this result will turn out to be a sort of “Garner was due a win” result but nothing really changes. We need to see some positive consistency.

He should be trying to win on Tuesday, not only because of momentum but he has yet to win an away game.

Lets remember Northampton were crap whan they had 11 men, let alone 10. Probably one of, if not the easiest game of the season. We will see how good he is when we reach 12 games. Can’t we just enjoy the win? It’s been a long time in the making!

Anyway, my main positive from today is that Marshy’s fridge is going to stick the V’s up to the curfew and stay open all night now 😂

Agreed thought I think it kind of showed that we aren't ready to compete with the teams who will be there or there abouts this season but we also aren't the worst side in the world as has been made out lately. This month is full of what are hopefully more winnable games. I think even the most positive of Rovers fan would want Garner gone if we're still down the bottom come November 1st.

Can’t disagree with that appraisal. One thing I saw mentioned was that Garner’s wins have involved some form of ref intervention- a penalty, a sending off etc. We need to take a step forward now and win a game on our own merits preferably against a side who competes with us. Sounds like Northampton were not a good advert for league one and their agricultural approach played into the refs hands which gave us something of a leg up. We probably won’t have that fortune against cannier sides
