Tbh what watered me off about your post was the condescending 'you couldn't make it up' phrase. I dislike that when fans are giving their honest opinion which may be different to yours, but still imo should be respected. Im glad my phrase came across that way as that was how I intended it to be. That phrase was only aimed at those on here who are so intent of getting BG out of the club that they were disappointed to win the game and made up excuses why we got lucky to win. It's to them I was being sarky with. Now I have no idea how you feel on BG as I cant be assed to search for it. You may be pro BG for all I know. I can see why you took it personal as I used your comment as an example to my point.
99% of the time, I do I respect people's opinions regardless if I share them or not. Look back at the history of my comments (if you can be assed, I don't blame you if you don't). I have reasoned debates with people whose opinion differs to mine. Sometimes name calling comes my way as a result but I do not bite at that. The most recent debate I had was with LJG and neither of us crossed that line. That is how is really should be.
I know BG is not the majority's flavour of the month but "what watered me off about your post" and some others too, was the fact that no credit was given to BG when it was due. Instead there was just excuses not to give credit. If that can't be understood then fair enough. Enjoy the rest of the weekend though.
Good luck with that attitude, I hope you make many friends.

Good luck with that attitude, I hope you make many friends. I take it you just read the 1st sentence only. Because the explanation behind that sentence and the rest of the comment would show the complete opposite to your post. Fair enough. I have many friends. All positive thinking friends. The best type. Cheers.

Would it have been more realistic (in terms of value) to keep jch with all his goals he may score? Every club has been propped up by their owners, we're not unique... There has to be a value for losses and a replacement value, I think we need another striker, unless you think Hanlon takes the wage if jch... Surely being a regular poster on the forum you must know that JCH refused to sign a new contract and also returned from the summer unfit, unless we wanted to lose him in January for next to nothing then keeping him clearly wasn't an option. Selling JCH was a good bit of business. Returning to pre-season massively overweight was disgraceful for a professional athlete, being paid what is to most people a kings ransom. That alone indicated he no longer wanted to be here so as far as I'm concerned we were better off getting what we could for him. It's surprising how quickly someone who was saved from onscurity will turn on their saviour, and to me that says an awful lot about his character. Peterborough are welcome to him. He'll probably spend the greater part of the season in the treatment room anyway.

I couldn’t agree more. Especially the part about lack of credit to Garner for yesterday’s win. Instead most cannot help themselves but to highlight how poor Northampton were, such was the reason we won the game, apparently. Which is quite the leap from the last few weeks “cannot see where the next win will come from”. We won yesterday with a solid display from the first minute, imposing our game on them for the entire second half & taking full advantage of the extra man, which is not our problem one iota. Wether Northampton were abysmal or sheer quality is by the by, we carried out our days work brilliantly with some superb individual displays. Hats off to Ben & the coaching staff, under some pressure from the ‘fanbase’ all week. If you wish these men to fail, by design you wish the team & club to fail. Now is time to fully get behind everyone for a tough fixture next weekend. Careful Hudson, you won't get many friends with that attitude, apparently.
A lot of people got what I was saying yesterday. There was a lot of likes to my point and agreement to it, such as yourself. Some obviously wouldn't like it and I guess that speaks volume to the fact that the truth hurts some people. Oh well. Cheers 'friend'

So it's ok to say when we lose that we were playing good teams so they don't count, but we can't say the opposition was poor when we win as Northampton were. We won and that will do me however they were poor opponents on the day. UTG

Here’s a bit of praise for Garner from the Northampton forum. We have just been dominated by a team who prior to today, had won 2 games in 22. Not only did we get dominated, but the same manager who had won 2 games in 22 tactically out thought Keith. Tonight he deserves criticism just like the 11 he selected to represent the club today. We have just had our one easy on paper game for October and being battered. The remaining league games in October are Peterborough, Plymouth A, Swindon and Charlton H, and then Portsmouth and Wigan A. In normal circumstances that's a horrible run of fixtures. Coming off a dreadful performance to the team bottom of the league, it's the stuff of nightmares. Keith now has 1 week to change the formation, work out his best team and fire them up for the most important home game of the season for the club. I hope that he succeeds as no win in 14 years to those tossers is far too long.

Certainly makes Sundays nice for a change.

Unless you have a few £100K's to donate to the club I'd forget about us signing a replacement for JCH, Ayunga is probably the best we'll get this season. Bingo! And there was me thinking of the £1.25million ish would be invested........ somewhere? How flip flop silly of me? So, where has the £1.25mill gone, I wonder? 🤔 Didn't we pay a fee for Hanlan and Ayunga, or doesn't that count? 🤔

As I said somewhere before, much better performance and hopefully we can use it as a springboard now. Personally I think Lincoln will be a tough tough game and if we can come away with a point that will be a great result setting us up nicely for 2 very winnable games against Burton and Shrewsbury. Not overly concerned with the game Tues but a decent performance and a win will help cement confidence and momentum going into Lincoln and as @gas365 said to me in a reply, will get us that first away win under BG and another monkey gone.... Lincoln have 3 players away on international duty, but aren't allowed to postpone the game because one of them is short on first team game time this season. I would say that this must make the game a little easier than it would've been.

I disagree. We did really well without Lambert, we were actual challengers for the play offs that season. IMO we were eventually relegated the following season because LL left and Trollope wasn’t up for the task alone, as we’ve seen him at many clubs since. We also employed a record what, 5 managers that season? I think that had more to do with it than Lambert, although it obviously would have made a difference. But I genuinely believe that wasn’t the reason we were relegated 18 months later. That's a fair post. I still think not replacing Lambo suitably was a significant contribution to our downfall. And similarly, it's a path we could find ourselves again. Hanlan injured or off form, we are relying heavily on someone or two stepping up. Big, big risk.. Yeah totally agree, it was a big factor. Who knows, if we’d have kept him we may have gone up that season as well. I definitely think we need another striker. It’s all well and nice beating a poor Northampton side down to 10 men, but with Ayunga out yesterday we were limited. If we were playing a good team and needed to change something, we’d have been completely stuck.

Bearing in mind Wael just wrote off 24 million of debt, I'd let him keep the £1.25 million if he decided to. But he's not keeping it, it's there if needed for the right player I would guess.

It will only count if they replace the goals we've lost from jch.... and with the best will in the world I'm not sure fledgling strikers are suitable replacement. We need one more proven striker rather than another loan development player from Chelski.

What's wrong with loan development players from Chelsea, Blackman was a decent goalie for us last season and McCormick was part of the team which dominated the second half yesterday. I don't get why posters just like having cheap shots at Weal. It seems OK to bring in loan players as long as it's not Chelsea. If we win a game it's because the opponents were poor, not because we finally put in a decent performance.

Regarding the JCH money, I read somewhere that we won't get all the money in one go, meaning paid in installments. I cannot remember where I read this or if it is even true but I won't be surprised if it is. If this is the case then that kind of solves where the money is because we haven't had it all yet. I also guess that what money has been received has covered the costs for the signings that we have paid fee's for, including agent fee's and signing on fee's etc. Of course, a lot of our expenditure happened prior to JCH's departure. However, I got the impression from Starnes interview that the club knew that JCH was leaving, it was just a matter of getting as much as we could for him. Meaning club knew funds were coming in and spent it on new recruits before JCH even left. Of course, this is just assumptions but could explain a few things if true.

If we win a game it's because the opponents were poor, not because we finally put in a decent performance. There are 20 teams in Premier and another 10 in Championship. In the last 3 years, we have had a disproportionate loan (from the parent club development squad, ie young players) from Chelsea. I don't know why posting this is so controversial? A genuine question lies in: why can't we promote our own development players? If BG wants young players and sees this as a club policy, why not bring on more of our own? The post brings in Wael, I've never mentioned it as a factor in these specific points I'm making. That's up to the poster to explain that one. My posts are trying to make the point I think we need a recognised striker rather than a development player from another club or a fox in the box from somewhere near Gatwick airport...... although others are available at request.

Really enjoyed Tom Davies being a co commentator, get the feeling we are all in this together and there are no divisions which has caused friction in the past. The players all seem on the same page and once we click in the final third it will be some team.
