I think he did pretty well considering hes been out injured and has probably not played any competitive games in a while. We definitely looked more of a threat once McCormick came on but Liddle gave us a decent hour. With Ogogo and Upson both out he gives us another option for one of the holding roles, especially away from home. i honestly can’t remember him making a single impact on the game, I fact, it looked like Baldwin and him, were having a competition, who could misplace the most passes!

I thought Baldwin defended quite well (for a change). Distribution has never been his greatest asset.

I thought Baldwin defended quite well (for a change). Distribution has never been his greatest asset. Would have to disagree on that. I think our centre backs now all are fantastic long passers but none are particularly good defenders. Harries exemplifies this with incredible long balls to the strikers but essentially being a scarecrow in defensive terms

Think you're being a bit harsh on both of them. As a centre half and defensive midfielder they've kept a clean sheet which is the first objective. Liddle started slowly but grew into the game and did the ugly side of the game pretty well. I'd agree his passing could have been better but considering he has barely played a competitive game for weeks I think he did ok

However Mc Cormick has been our best and most consistent midfielder this season so I can’t understand why he isn’t starting and was sub to a young kid with hardly any experience who’s not match fit ?

Liddle did okay, considering he must be extremely short of match sharpness, if nothing else he didn't look afraid of the ball or the opposition which is more than can be said of Westbrooke.
McCormick presumably must've intentionally been saved for the latter stages though.

That's a different question !!!! I'm not sure why McCormick didn't start and completely agree he's been our best midfielder. I can only assume PT wanted two holding midfielders and by playing Daly & Hanlon up front it left a straight choice between Nicholson & McCormick. I can sort of see the logic in that after what happened at Accrington but would hope we might be a bit more adventurous at home either by sacrificing one of the holding midfielders or centre backs

We are in a relegation fight and been shipping goals so need to be tight and stay in the game hoping to hit on the break or by a mistake when pressing or even a set piece. Unfortunately that may mean missing McCormick but personally I don't think that's the answer I think it's time to give Hanlon a break and Ayunga to start he can do no worse as our striker hasn't scored in around 10 games.

Thought he grew into the game after an understandably nervous start.
He kept the shape of the midfield ok but his passing was a bit off and I don't remember any important tackles.
However, he's been pressed into service as with the loss of Ogogo and Upson there's virtually no one else!
I thought that Hargreaves might have been brought in, being more experienced. McCormick should definitely start on Tuesday though.
In the long term, end of this season if possible, Mehew might be a better option?

He’s one of those players that’s getting stuck in and has that lead by example style to his game. Almost like a younger more mobile Abu Ogogo. I reckon if his manager told him to sit deep and protect the back line he could do it. He’s got a bright future ahead of him for sure, it’s rare we bring a loan in who becomes a very important player but Luke has. Liddles done alright too mind and I know he’s our player and Luke isn’t which is perhaps another reason Liddle got the nod but personally I’d pick our best players but then I’m not the manager , I’m not sure I’d want to be.

Good defending is more about reading the game, anticipating the moves and marking space than anything else. We haven't seen much of Liddle but from what I've seen so far he seems to be the kind of player who reads the game and gets to the ball before a tackle is necessary. McCormick is more of a firefighter.

All these young players need bloods go and developing slowly. Throwing them in can really damage their progress.
In the circumstances I thought Liddle did a bloody good job

Like Liddle ... thought he grew into the game.
I agree with Henbury if he stays with us I think he will be a cracking player.
