Have to agree fully with your assessment, Oz also brings out the best in Westbrooke.

He says he's peed off with the defending for their third goal, but what's the betting he starts Baldwin again Saturday regardless? Who would you start in his place assuming that Ehmer still has to play at right back?

Lots of little moaners again! Had Nicholson and oztumer played tonight ,we would have won tonight. Thought we played some decent football at times. Same posters who always moan when we lose then disappear whenever we win? G365, LPGas, etc, etc,

No they weren’t were more organised! They had one very good centre half in Omar bogles. Who pretty much defended everything! Your negativity is boring Also they were more organised , we were a mess at the back and they weren’t. Edit : I’ve just watched the extended highlights , about ten minutes which showed every bit of decent goalmouth action and Crewe had 8 clips to our 3. Some on here saying we were unlucky are making excuses and I hope the players aren’t talking like that today. You make your own luck in football as you do in most things in life. Those 'highlights' clearly omitted some goalmouth action as we had 17 attempts on goal to Crewe's 11 attempts.

Wow ! clearly my brain has omitted some of those too then as I watched the game on I follow and watched the highlights and other than the two goals and the Westbrooke free kick I’m struggling to think of another attempt on goal from us. 17 attempts on goal only 2 conceded , their keeper must have put on one of the all time great performances from a goalkeeper last night.

I mean Grant had an attempt off target that went for a throw in, he'd have had to have done really well to save that one.

So leahy and hare are essentially wing backs, they can't play in a back 4 as their defensive skills are to weak.
Whats happened to little and Kelly?

Maybe give Harries a go as he's the only left footed central defender. Otherwise Ehmer in that position with Little finally coming in at right back.
At least Ehmer seems more comfortable on his left than Baldwin. Reminds me when we used Adam Barrett (remember him) on his wrong side - just couldn't play there as he was so one-footed - but went on to carve out a great career for Southend in his best position.

The only real alternative is Harries and he's got at least one mistake in him a game, he was also on the pitch last night when we conceded 3 goals, we need desperately need an RB so Ehmer can then move back to CB, surely RB's aren't that difficult to sign even in January?

I’ve pointed this out before- Ogogo can play at right back which was his position in his Arsenal days. He would be our best option from within the existing squad.

Please see his post above.

We've got to find a way of getting Ogogo in the team I think. It’s simple in my eyes, replace Upson in the team with Ogogo, Upson’s a better passer of the ball but we’ve got Westbrooke, McCormick and Oztumer for that. What we need is someone who can put a tackle in, break up the play and make life hard for their midfielders when we aren’t on the ball and I think Ogogo could perform that role quite well.

We’ve got far too much deadweight in this squad, if we somehow manage to stay up this season we’ve got to have a mass clear out in the summer!

Please see his post above. Fair enough , I took shots on goal as in shots that were on goal rather than shots that were blocked , or went wide etc. I just looked on my matches app called goal and it says that ourselves and Crewe both had 10 shots each including on target blocked etc, other stat pages probably tell different again. Anyway regardless of what hundreds of different stats say I still feel that we only really had 3 clear cut really good scoring opportunities last night , we scored two which is decent , but like I’ve also said we defended so badly and were so disorganised that when you defend like that and concede as many goals as we do your always going to struggle.
