Completely disagree about Hanlan. Gives 100% and comes back to defend. Not his fault that ref was being conned by their defenders! Hanlan is not a dirty player; he plays fair but gets too many decisions against him!when he has done nothing! Ref was ok 1st half but terrible 2nd as easily conned by them Westbrook is not a player for a muddy pitch! McCormick or Hargreaves type player with pace would have been much better especially coming back to defend? Overall a good formation and we made a top table team look ordinary at times. Our marking was much better but still need to close up at throw ins so that they do not have easy balls. Too much room given. Not sure I understand the rationale to your thinking here. Westbrooke came on didn´t do much wrong and held the ball up, we didn´t lose so why was he wrong choice, seems to me PT was content to take a draw at that stage. I guess you are saying McCormick (who I think with nicholson has been our best player this season) or Hargreaves would have won us the game? What did he add? When they were attacking you could see him just strolling near the centre circle? Pitches are going to get heavier and he is not suited to that? He has great potential but needs to be much more positive and retain the ball and move it forwards

He dosent hold the ball up well as many says he does and his passing is poor. There was also a chance near the end when Williams has put a great ball back over and he didnt put the defender under pressure to clear. A real hungry striker is all over the defender trying to force the ball in or a mistake. It's not just tonight's game it's been happening alot lately and for me he is not a striker but time will tell as he is still fairly young. I kind of agree with both of you but let’s not forget that: 1) He is young (as you pointed out) & will only learn and improve. 2) This is his first full season playing regularly as an out-and-out striker (learning the position). 3) The bloke runs his heart out every game & has been absolutely flogged to death for months due to being our only consistently fit senior(ish) striker. I imagine he’s dead on his feet & badly in need of a rest. 4) It’s felt like he’s been carrying our whole attack on his back the last few weeks whilst Nicholson & Ozzy have been out. Without them two on the pitch the opposition defence can put all their attention on him & mark him out of the game.

That’s a good little point there, our record at London Road is horrendous!
Massive game Saturday now!

You are talking nonsense! Westbrooke came on with 25 mins to go, all around him on both sides players were giving the ball away losing their feet and generally failing to control play. Westbrooke came on got involved held the ball up made a few interceptions and yes also gave the ball away. But give the lad abreak. How many players in tonights conditions would have looked worldbeaters. Westbrookes a good passer but he’s a complete fanny. Lots of fanny references recently socrates, something on your mind?

Hanlan is showing signs of a player burnt out and who can blame him ?. Shocking really he's been a lone striker for 2_3 months .
I think he's a really good signing and could net 15 in his first season under very difficult circumstances with no attacking support .

The game passed him by; at the end when he gave the ball away on the touchline after a superb ball by Hanlan he tried to kick their player down from behind and was lucky he even failed that otherwise he would have been booked if not sent off? 😂

Westbrookes a good passer but he’s a complete fanny. Whilst I wouldn’t word it this way, I have to agree. He is absolute quality with his set pieces and he is a very tidy on the deck footballer. He would work tons better with Oz and Nicholson as he needs similarly good players with him so he can work triangles with them. He is, however, reluctant to challenge and he would be a much better player if he put himself about a bit. I would persevere with him, quality is a hard thing to find in these leagues and if we can get westbroke to improve I think he’d be overpowered for this league in some aspects of his game. On tonight though, he was rubbish. He hasn’t had a good game for a while. Fully agree when we played with Oztumer Nicholson Westbrooke and Hanlon we played some of the best football we have for years, take Nicholson and Oztumer out and we have Hanlon trying to carry the frontline and Westbrooke's ability (he has some!) becomes wasted. Tonight as I say 25mins to go on a terrible pitch he wasn't great but who was? When I hear comments like hard work is more important than skill it reminds me of all the stick that Ollie Clarke as our captain and a home grown player took and yet it would be hard to say that he didn't give 100% effort. Quality in Bristol Rovers teams has been absence for some time, Nicholson, Oztumer, McCormick, Grant and yes Westbrook all have it. Alongside these we do need to add in some bite Williams looks a positive signing, Kilgour is a must but Elmer is not a Tony Craig and Baldwin is error prone (although I though he did well tonight).

Odd that everybody else thought he was poor, which is mostly has been this season, hence why he's on the bench. If he was a youngster like Barrett you could give him a break but he's probably one of our highest earners. If he left tomorrow I doubt he'd be missed.

I thought we restricted Posh to mainly long range efforts, which Day dealt with well. Williams looked good in a more solid defensive display, and we largely nullified JCH for the 2nd time this season. Impressed with how Ogogo has stepped back up from the National League. Oz and Nicholson showed what we have been missing first half. Ayunga played well when he came on, but we still need another striker in to take the weight off workhorse Hanlan. We're level on points with Rochdale with 2 games in hand, so Saturday is a chance to make some progress in the table. Need to get at them early and try to get the early goal. Bit of faith restored tonight, UTG!

Ogogo's now taken the only free place available in midfield, Westbrook is surplus to requirements now Ozt is fit.

I didn't watch tonight, but seems that Westbrooke is taking quite a bit of flak. I'm not surprised though, as in the games I've seen this season, he has not impressed me at all. He is a technical player, but the trouble is that the vast majority of the technical bits he tries just don't work and end up gifting the ball to the opposition.
He can be a great player, as he was doing really well at Coventry last season, but he needs to start showing it here soon. Perhaps it's a lack of confidence?

Excellent point tonight. Ogogo certainly stepped up tonight & brought the best out of Grant - thought that was his best game for us. Defence better tonight they kept a clean sheet against a team who has plenty of attacking threats so hopefully brings confidence. Westbrooke need a break from the squad for a while, looks completely out of his depth, Lehey meh, other than that good positive signs to build on this performance & pull away from the bottom.

Seems like some on here aren’t happy unless they can criticise someone, if it wasnt Westbrooke it would have been Leahy, it’s usually Grant but sometimes Baldwin, Ehmer of course is not a captain so we can stick it to him a bit he’s no Craig.........we just had a great result against the leagues top scorers and everyone in the team players their part

Glad Ogogo played well, its going to take him a few games to get back to the pace of league 1 but he's always one of the first on the team sheet for me.

Didn’t know but Gabriel Osho started for Rochdale today and I think hanlan and Nicholson would make him look silly.
