591 is the amount of minutes since Rochdale last scored.Imagine following a team that can't score!!!!! Imagine being a Liverpool fan! So much expectation after last last season's exploits. At least with us you know what to expect. Sh1t season?. Move along. Nothing to see here. They ve always been my second team and both my teams can t score, think Klopp has lost the dressing room there, the home form is unbelievable jeff!

We're backing the wrong horse.. Jonah Ayunga is much better than brandon hanlan. I don't know why so many people on here think he's decent. He's terrible. We need two up front so start with Ayunga and daly and give walker, Warwick, hulbert etc a chance from the bench. Hanlan and Nicholson are not and never will be, strikers.

And stretching even further back, we are their only win in 16 matches. Not looking good for either club, is it!

Let's be honest the striker options are embarrassing when you consider some of the names we've had in the past. When we received a million or so for JCH you would've expect a better calibre of replacement. The whole recruitment process over the past 18 months to two years has been a disaster.

Particularly since GC left we have had a habit of meeting the worst teams and making them look good. Remember when we went to Southend last season and made them look like Brazil? In fact even when GC was still here, we played Bolton at home, who had not won nor scored more than 1 in a game until that point, and they made us look like dicks.

I honestly struggle to believe how anyone connected with Rovers - fan, player, manager, owner etc. - looked at Hanlan/Ayunga/Daly going into the season and thought “yep, there’s the goals we need”. Apart from Ayunga having one prolific season 2 or 3 tiers down, there was nothing to suggest we had even come close to adequately replacing the goals we’d lost from JCH. It was painfully obvious on paper and it’s been painfully obvious on the pitch, unfortunately.

Tutonda signing sums it up. You say that many were saying he was the next Roberto Carlos on here, I personally like him.

He had a promising first couple of games and rightly received praise, since then he's looked a liability when given a chance and out of his depth IMHO. Hopefully Dave can regain that early form that had us singing his praises!

Personally I would be (very pleasantly) surprised if we stay up this season. Our results, individual errors, lack of goals, the fact the team has been managed by 4 different people so far if you include TW's 3 games as caretaker. It's got all the hallmarks of a side doomed to relegation.
I have started to wonder how this team would do in L2, albeit with some changes to the squad. It may be that some players would benefit from a season in L2 to "earn their stripes" as it were, and make the leap from being players with potential, to actual good quality EFL players. Having said that, I certainly wouldn't take the risk of going down if given the choice.

If we go down this team would get absolutely murdered in league 2. That game against Burton is a perfect example of what would happen every week. Poor pitches, battles in the middle, long ball direct big teams. Our side has been put together to play football, league 2 is a physical battle where you need to be good in both boxes, something that we are not good at. Halfway through this season I thought we started to look really dangerous from set pieces? Offensively we look like we've taken a big step back. We need to shoot more from outside of the box, get some good set pieces going. Feed off knockdowns from Ayunga, he's absolutely wasted in this team, a striker with a quick thought and a bit of guile, a Taylor pitman type would get goals playing alongside someone like him. Playing Hanlan as a lone striker is like flogging a dead horse, the more he carries the burden of goals the more he will miss.

This team would not get murdered in L2 but it is a fallacy to think that these players will bounce us straight back. They won't. This squad has been perpetually losing games for 15 months or so. The morale must be low and the leadership on the pitch is non existent. We are a soft touch at the moment: a team that can't score goals and makes basic defensive errors. The team isn't even aggressive. In fact it's difficult to think what they're good at.
Yep, some L2 teams will batter our lot because we are not equipped to deal with physicality. Likewise, we are not equipped to deal with skilfull opponents either. I suspect this squad would meander around lower mid table in L2. I suspect that without serious summer recruitment and displacement activity we will get to see next season.

The whole recruitment process over the past 18 months to two years has been a disaster. 40-odd professionals is just too many. We started collecting players for the fun of it. Would prefer to see 20 or so with the quality to really compete for the first team and a dozen or so with real potential in the development squad. That way they could be properly managed and coached.
