Hi gasheads,
Big game for our beloved gas this evening and similarly swindon of course. They call them 6 pointers and by god we need as many as we can muster over these next 10 games in our bid to remain in league 1. Im sure we all feel flat, disillusioned and somewhat distant at the moment. Its such a shame we cant be there to be the twelth man as I know we could make a difference especially in a spicy local derby with so much on the line. Be it loud support or a verbal kick up the backside. A home game where form has been a little better but not far for swindon to travel and without the intimidation factor of the home crowd, it may level that field a bit. 3rd manager of the season and Joey Barton will always cause divide but I hope you can all rise above any ill feelings and send positivity to him for these next 10 games. Why bother comparing and arguing over this, that and the other right now? Let the assessment start when the fat lady has sung from here on in. 10 game mini season and itll fly by. Same with the players, many of whom we havent been able to watch in the flesh, some we may never watch live but for now and these next 10 games they are OUR players and we need them to do us a job. Fingers crossed. So it would seem Ehmer wont feature again this season unless we are desperate, so i assume we will be back to a 4 at the back. Joey may well shake things up a little but i cynically believe it wont differ dramatically as realistically it cant imo. Weve seen what we can from this squad this season imo, So its a case of we go again, lets just hope it rolls our way.
So strap in for the bumpy ride gasheads, stick your colours on, sit down and take it in via your chosen method. We go again!!!
Dont lose hope until hope is lost.
Nothing worth doing was ever easy.
Chin up, chest out, stand tall. Arms in the air "IRENE...
On to 3 MASSIVE POINTS!!! Come on you blues! UTG

Well done for starting early!! I rarely go OTT with how important games are, well not until April but this one is very important. I think we’ll win because the players will probably be too afraid to go back into the changing room if they don’t. UTG!

Starting line up will be interesting!
Can’t see Ehmer starting? Unless Barton thinks his public criticism will fire him up? Strange tactic if so.
Day
Williams Kilgour Baldwin Leahy
Hare Upson McCormick Tutonda
Daly Ayunga

No words can describe how monumental this game is. One win could give the club a massive boost at a crucial time. We absolutely must take our chances.
It could count as two points with GD come the end of the season. Barton needs to die them up right before the whistle (which I'm sure he will).
We need to attack and press from the word go.
We can absolutely do it.
I'm gonna say 3-1

Day Williams Kilgour Baldwin Leahy Hare Upson McCormick Tutonda Daly Ayunga Can't see us playing 2 full backs and 2 wing backs, although I agree the likes of Hare and Tutonda should be given a chance to give us something different. Leahy will start though, as he seems to be captain now and is arguably our biggest goal threat! We did have 22 shots on Saturday so there is some hope! I'd like to see Walker get a run out if we're struggling to penetrate them like we did with Wimbledon

On the right I'd start Hare and play Williams at either RCB or just rest him. I'd also start Daly upfront then use Hanlan later on, as DC used Harrison against tiring defences.

Day Williams Kilgour Baldwin Leahy Hare Upson McCormick Tutonda Daly Ayunga That's the side I would pick too. We can't improve the back 4, it is what it is. The midfield is scary to look at isn't it. No general to get the lads fired up and if you take Upson out of the equation the rest of the midfield have 58 league one appearances between them. I know Leahy is our top scorer, but he's going to have to just concentrate on defending tonight and only move out of the left back position if he really has to. Too many of time Leahy gets caught out of position whether he's too far up the pitch and can't get back or he's amongst the the CB's in the 6 yard box when crosses come in. Going forward I can't fault the guy, but he needs to defend now and stop attacks and crosses coming down the left hand side

So with all this talk of Agincourt and the like it seems today is right up there on the scale of importance to the Rovers Family, but just how important is it really? In an effort to bring some perspective to the events about to unfold it can't have escaped the notice of all Gas eds that today also marks one year since you know what kicked off. There will be few, if any Rovers fans ,who have not been affected by the nightmare which has engulfed the world either directly or by the misfortune of fellow Gas Eds, and i would ask you to remember them all as you contemplate the fortunes of the team tonight. I think one's perspective changes with advancing years, when i was young a Rovers or England defeat would send me into depression for days on end and i am sure its the same for younger fans today but as you get older your perspective changes and you are able to accept these things and you realise how lucky you are to be able to enjoy/despair at the fortunes of Rovers. What i am trying to say is that for me it is a very important day to be grateful to be able to witness tonight's game , i sincerely hope we get 3 points , but if the worse happens and the end result leads to us being in a different league next season then so be it , it just means different teams to play and if i am lucky enough to witness it that's enough , or as they say in Yorkshire(apparently) that'll do, keep safe, up the Rovers!

I am aware that there are posters on here that do not like my views on the recruitment of Barton. But I will say this. If a manager or anyone in this position has something to say over the employees performance, it would be dealt with behind closed doors and not broadcast in the local rag. This is not the way to motivate, only to destroy.

I'd definitely find a space for Ozzy tonight. We need an attacking midfielder who can actually pass the ball forward accurately and hold on to it. McCormick has been very disappointing since the news that Millwall were after him but I would probably leave out Upson and play McCormick in the deeper role as he is a lot quicker than Upson. .

I agree, Ozzy looked sharp when he came on Saturday and looked like he could make something happen. I would like to see him and McCormick playing in the centre.

I want to fit Tutonda in somewhere, but may have to be from the bench with half hour spare. Shame he can't(?) play RWB. So (assume still no Anssi or Grant)
Day Williams Kilgour Baldwin Hare McCormick Upson Leahy Westbrooke Ozzy Ajunga
Walker and Tutonda to make an impact if needed.

However, we don't know what has already been said and done - maybe JB has already tried the arm around the shoulder approach, and the b0ll0cking in private approach - neither having worked, he's is now trying the last cahnce public dressing down

Big game then tonight ... I have been too optimistic on our recent games thinking that something would kick in and boost our guys into some form of action.
So .... I think it will be 1-1 tonight - not convinced we can keep Pitman and Twine quiet and desperately hoping we have a goal in us from somewhere.
