Wael seems to have created a bit of a non-job. Half a dozen or so loans to sort out a couple of times a year, the occasional phone call to see how they are and a visit to the training ground every now and then to say hi to the academy and development squad coach.
Nice salary and some good travel expense but for what? Only plus is that it will save Joey and the coaches time on dealing with loaning out players.
Guess we might have a new chief scout soon or will we rely on some data firm? Where is Will Dubey or whatever he was called?
If there was any doubt, it's clear that Wael now acts on Joey's instructions. Whether that is good or bad, well we all have different views.

I wonder if Eddy Jennings will be appointed as the new CEO, he can't become DOF now as he was at Fleetwood and it looks as if he has been promised a job.

It could be said that we’re putting all our eggs in one basket-case. Agreed last season was terrible, but the recruitment wasn’t too bad before that. If Joey messes up, we will have to redo everything again. Maybe that’s why Widdrington is being kept around. But still putting a lot of faith in Barton. If Wael were to turn back to Tommy in the event that things go tits up with Barton, then Tommy would be well within his rights to say he wouldn't be sloppy seconds. This situation is so odd!

Sounds to me he is all but fired. Demoted but kept on the payroll rather than being paid off. Will be interested to see how long he lasts at the club. Never ever have I come across a situation before where a full Board Member has effectively been told he now reports to the manager. I read that a director and Board are in charge of the management of the company's business; they make the strategic and operational decisions of the company and are responsible for ensuring that the company meets its statutory obligations. Sounds like Tommy has a title but certainly is no longer a board member in the legal sense.

In a industry where loyalty from owners to managers isn’t often, you can’t knock Wael for wholeheartedly backing his manager the way he wants the footballing side of the club to be ran.

Which managers have full control of recruitment? And by that I mean no chief scout, DoF to help them? Glad TW is gone but Wael should have sacked him and used his wages on getting someone with a good track record to assist JB. Now we’re just a one man show. Eddy Jennings will be appointed shortly and will assist Joey Barton with recruitment What is Eddy Jennings' cv and history in football recruitment like?

Well he's got a degree in Sports Science, organised events for Knowsley Council, worked with Puma as a sales and contract rep. and also with a sports and entertainment firm called Wasserman before becoming Director of Football at Fleetwood Town FC for 18 Months. EP says he's a long term ally of Joey. Read he was a house guest of Joey's in his Bristol digs. Does that CV not cut the mustard ?

At least Wasserman are a big agency in the football world. But no, what you posted isn't really anything to shout home about in terms of a player recruitment cv.

Yep apart from Fleetwood, the most relevant experience is in contract negotiations.

I have no idea and my post wasn’t intended to stir anything. It just makes logical sense that he worked with Barton at fleetwood and has been living in Bristol with Barton, Hill and Mangan since they were appointed. Barton speaks highly of him and if Barton wants control and people around him he has worked with previously then I imagine Jennings will be appointed soon. My post maybe should of said in my opinion Jennings will be appointed instead of posting as if I knew for a fact

Any gems at Fleetwood that he helped sign that have been sold on for big money or increased in value I wonder?

Short period of time to review but I think he brought in Lewie Coyle and then sold him to Hull for more money

I think the only surprise is that Tommy wasn't shown where the door is - which is what a lot of fans were clamouring for at the end of the season. Not sure if Wael is being soft, or if it's a canny move to have to Tommy in the background for when JB moves on.

Looking at Barton's 4 signings so far it does not look like valued-added potential in the transfer market is the aim. Seems more like focus on players who know their way round and can perform at league 2 level next season. Nothing wrong in a short-term policy but don't see any development or sell-on value being a driver.

I think that we took so many players last year with potential that JB probably doesn't need to focus on those type this window IMO... what he/we need is the components to create a decent spine and hopefully then we can bring on that potential and sell in the winter before the contracts run out

Seeing as Barton is getting his way I'm expecting promotion back to L1 is a minimum for this coming season.
