My comments were in response to the attacks on DC as he was being blamed for our relegation. I place most of the blame for our relegation with JW. Events at the club prior to his arrival can hardly be blamed on John Ward, I think you can see that. Please don't mistake my comment that I think Ward would have kept us up as an attack on DC. I agree that most of the damage was already done and not letting DC have a Window was criminal. I don't blame DC for taking us down and I fully support him now. I think he is a very promising young manager and well worth sticking with. Absolutely. We're second in the league which is better than most of us thought we would be and if we don't catch Barnet and only make the play offs then we are definitely the sort of team that can win the play offs. This teams got bottle and determination and I'm delighted to be able to say that after the shower of sh**e we've had to put up with for so long. UTG.

Why do you keep stating that John Ward was not here when we were relegated? He WAS here. He left the club AFTER we were relegated. We all know that you like facts, well this is a fact so please try to acknowledge it and do not replace this fact with historical inaccuracies to support your argument. JW was our illustrious leader for 38 games and the took the position of Director of Football (DC's senior) for the remaining 8 games. Ward masterminded our demise over the season and moved upstairs to provide guidance and support for our new young manager. The season is played over 46 games and Ward was involved as the senior man for all of them. John Ward screwed up royally (right up to and including relegation day) and thankfully we have a passionate young enthusiastic manager who is trying damn hard to put things right. The board will be delighted with your comments. Can we blame John Ward for the other three seasons before that too ? Can we blame Clarke for them?

Yesterday was my fifth away game of the season, we haven't won one of them, I'm starting to think I'm a jinx. Might have to stay away from away games from now on, except for Torquay as I've already paid for my ticket.
The performance was less than satisfactory. The defence and Spiess were good yet again. Spiess made two fantastic first half saves which would have beaten a lot of other keepers. The defence dealt with the Welling 'threat' more than often, sometimes they needlessly panicked and smacked it into the middle of nowhere but if they were the complete package they wouldn't be playing for us. In the middle Clarke, someone who I was starting to like, didn't impress. His passing was poor, a lot of them straight to a Welling player. Mansell yet again was a fighter and motivator in the middle of the park, I love Manse and he was one of the few that really impressed me. Sinclair is wasted out-wide, he still put his usual 110% in but it's less effective on the wing, he also can't shoot for sh**, he had a chance that I'm sure would have been a lot more dangerous if it fell to a different player. Balanta was alright, can't recall anything particularly bad or good. Blissett looked slow, someone on the coach pre-game reckons he got a knock against Wrexham, so perhaps that was affecting him. Goldberg too lightweight against their defence, pushed off the ball easily.
I thought Taylor showed his quality when he came on, suddenly Brown was forced to overlap with some of the passes Taylor was making. Wall was decent. Had a chance or two but their keeper made a fantastic save from his free-kick. Gosling's biggest contribution was hitting a shot out for a throw-in when it was easier to hit the target, bravo lad.
Personally I felt the line-up was a mistake. I'm a big fan of Clarke and do stick up for him when he deserves to be stuck up for but his selection wasn't good. He needs to stick with the same line-up, if it's not broke, don't fix it. Taylor and Blissett have been good together, odd that Taylor was dropped.
Either team could have won that one, though. A point there was not what I wanted but I'm content considering their home record, that's if we can build on it and not slump to more draws.
Thought their ground was atrociously bad, I know we're nonleague and have to get used to it but felt more like it should have been Mangotsfield playing them than us. I hope Higgs witnessed the ground.
I did enjoy the day, though. Minus the football.

Yes, two points dropped, but let's take some positives, 2nd in the league and have only lost once in 18 games.
Think most people would have settled for that at the beginning of the season.
But what a day out. Brilliant.
Christmas jumpers, cider, mince pies, tinsel, lager, The Gas, drinking games, bloke taking cash in hand at the gate (no turnstile), singing, whisky, Irene.........
The 651 couldn't help but enjoy that, and for those who couldn't make it, you missed a treat.
