My good friend Gasheadblues has deleted his account on this forum.
After being called dyslexic, semi litterateur, delusional and told to take some aspirins by no less than Oldie!
In reply he advised Oldie to take the entire box of pills and congratulated him on being more derisive than JB and helping the forum on its way to the dogs.
This final post was subsequently deleted by the mods.
Shame on you I say, sums up what this place has become.
For those that know Kev, they know him to be none of the things he was called. In fact never a nicer bloke could you meet, a highly intelligent successful businessman, an absolute gentleman and lifelong gashead to boot.
His leaving this forum, as the title of this thread says, sums up what this place has become.
I hope the mods do me and GHB the honour of not deleting this post of mine, which only contains the FACTS of why my good friend has deleted his account.

Exactly the reason I left…I joined the forum as some fun to keep me occupied whilst working from home. I ended up literally with two or three others that would jump on every post and send abusive, angry and aggressive messages.
I only read the forum once a week now and don’t post anymore.
The toxic minority ruin it for everyone.

I’ve stopped posting regularly for a couple of reasons which are that I felt with some I was having a discussion with a brick wall a lot of the time, my posts were jumped on by many and went beyond discussion and finally because the arguments had become so cyclical I felt my posts weren’t benefiting the forum as a whole. After a depressing couple of years and polarised views on our current manager it’s hardly surprising that this place isn’t full of fun and laughter. As our results continue to be crap, so the polarised views widen a rift between supporters and I think that’s totally normal for fans in our current situation.I like GHB but don’t hold him up as some sort of martyr when he was as good at getting stuck into arguments and name calling as anyone else! (Myself included). |

The fact you think someone telling someone to take a single aspirin, compares like-for-like to suggesting someone commits suicide says all we need to know frankly. |

It seems to me that the last couple of years or so has taken its toll on all of us - Covid, awful performances from the team, poor club managers at the helm, awful results on the pitch, etc etc.
My personal opinion is that our current manager is having a toxic impact on all of us and he is affecting the image of our club in a way that I am struggling to want to be part of.

Me too. We have become a horrible group since Garner took over and that's been made much worse by Barton. I only read the What's for dinner thread now. I genuinely no longer care about Rovers. |

This is sad to learn and frankly I can understand why there are polarised views and opinions - as has been pointed out, we have had a couple of years of poor results, managers unable to get consistent performances and lack of progress on the one major thing I think pretty much all of us agree on - a new stadium. Add to that our various views on the managers we have employed over recent years and their capabilities etc, it’s bound to lead to strong opinions on all sides.
What I cant understand is why and how irrespective of your view point that we can’t be respectful to one another. There is no need for the name calling, the aggression and the nastiness that seems to have prevailed over the last year or so. We are all (I would think) grown adults yet behave like kids in a playground - would we be like this or accept this behaviour from our kids etc?
At the end of the day we all have the best interests of the club at heart, we are all Gasheads and we should be like family - supporting and being there for one another. We should be able to have different views and be able to discuss them in a reasonable way.
This is about the 3rd time I’ve written something of this nature over the last few weeks…. Please can we all just try??? It shouldn’t be hard

What a massive shame.... I've known GHB for a good while now and I love the bloke..... We're clearly from different backgrounds, and often had differing opinions, but it didn't mater because we were both gas....
I don't really like threads on the forum about 'the forum', but it goes to show what a mess it's all become, and how badly some of our supposed allies behave....

I'm not saying that you are suggesting this, but if one person is making another,or others react and treat other people differently then I would have a very close look at the individuals that react first rather than JB. JB might not be everyones cup of tea, nor a nice person ( open for debate really) but to excuse others actions by him being here is wrong.He is a manager of humble football club,and not a very good one at that and in reality this far has done wrong in his time here as manager.Even the case against his wife has not been proven yet. People attacking others and using JB as the reason why is just wrong. |

Once there was friendship and comradery between Gasheads but that's long gone.
A few years back me and my mate both over 6 foot stood on the west terrace, behind us was a very angry short arsed bloke in his late 60s/ 70s who wanted to fight us for being taller then him and obscuring his view.
I knew then that the friendly welcome I once enjoyed on the old North Terrace at Eastville was long gone.
It's still the Gas but not as I knew it...

I'm afraid that this place is really just a reflection of what BRFC seems to be atm. Let’s hope for some wins, a rise up the table and things will look better. I took a hiatus because I was no longer enjoying the tone of the forum, I also noticed that I was becoming aggressive myself, which just isn't me. The forum used to be my first port of call on the internet, now it almost feels like a chore to have a look at what's being said. Thank goodness we have Big Jock to inject a bit of sanity and humour.

All I see here is you trying to justify the actions of your "good friend" who did name calling, while in the same breath condemning the actions of others who do name calling. Seem very hypocritical, especially after the name calling you previously gave to RoverDrive. I am not trying to stir things by bring up the past. I am just using it as an example to make the point that you can't call people names but then call a foul when a friend receives name calling. You are obviously unhappy that GHB has deleted his account. We are or should be all saddened that someone has taken this action. But were you unhappy when RoverDrive decided he couldn't post anymore after the abuse he received? Again, seem hypocritical.
I get it though, you are being loyal to friend and I fully respect that. But comparing the levels of name calling with 'whose was worse' like you did above is missing the point altogether. Both sides are in the wrong and two wrongs don't make a right obviously. The name calling isn't necessary full stop. That is what is putting people off. No need to retaliate. Just be the bigger person and grown up about it and call them out on their behaviour and if they continue then report it to the mods. Attacking each other is just so pointless.
I see RoverDrive has decided to come back and post today, which is great. Hopefully GHB returns soon too.
