Ukrainians aren't Slavs? Your comment is disgustingly racist imo. You can drop the ‘IMO’, that is an outright disgusting comment. My partner is Croatian and my daughter is half Croatian. Does that now mean, as Slavs, my partner and daughter have a barbaric and cheap regard for human life? TrevorGas you should be ashamed with such a comment, truly I could well be wrong but I'm not sure the intention was to comment on Slavs as a whole but draw attention to the close links between Russia and Serbia against whom we did pursue war crimes.

Awful atrocities in Bucha committed by the Russians . Men with hands tied behind their backs, shot and left lying in the street. Using children as human shields . Mass grave with 300 bodies , 5 naked womens bodies left lying in street , shops looted etc Barbaric stone age b*statrds 🤬 I live in Bucha, I and my wife have a comfortable apartment overlooking a pine forest, now, as all properties in the town, shelled, damaged, looted, abused, defiled by the recent occupiers. Bucha was a beautiful affluent suburb of Kyiv, quiet, family orientated, many parks, children's playgrounds, restaurants, shops, businesses, now all ruined, hundreds of citizens, men, women, children brutally abused, murdered. Survivors are traumatised. Fortunately we left Bucha in late February on UK Gov advice and now safely abroad but we have family, friends and neighbours still there who have endured the most inhumane experiences. This is happening in many places throughout Ukraine, it is the long-held policy of the Russian Government that wants to erase Ukraine from the face of the earth.

I'm really saddened to hear your personal account and the horrors that are continuing to be inflicted on the people of Ukraine and the impact that this invasion has had on your life and that of your wife. I really hope for both of you, that one day you can return to Bucha, but imo the barbarism and wounds inflicted on Ukraine will run deep and sadly last in the memories of everyone affected for many lifetimes. I can only wish you my very best wishes for the future..

2.4 million Iraqis were killed as a consequence of the 2003 illegal war.
Sad to say Ukraine could get a lot worse still.

There is an article going round this morning causing a stir, purporting to be from a Kremlin backed media source. The translation does not make good reading.

Quite a turnaround if this map is anywhere near accurate.

This is quite a 'guesstimate', not sure the methodology is linear. "Taking ORB’s estimate of 1.033 million killed by June 2007, then applying a variation of Just Foreign Policy’s methodology from July 2007 to the present using revised figures from Iraq Body Count, we estimate that 2.4 million Iraqis have been killed since 2003 as a result of our country’s illegal invasion, with a minimum of 1.5 million and a maximum of 3.4 million." Either way, it's too many and sadly there will be many more than currently officially known in Ukraine.

Although there is no doubt that our disgraceful invasion of 2003 unleashed a torrent of bloodshed, the issues in that area predate that. It's a little like the old eastern European communist collapse which was followed by some terrible violence. Ultimately some of this tension between Sunni and Shia, the poor treatment and betrayal of the Kurds (by us) and our forces boundaries post WW1 on the old Mesopotamia would have exploded into confrontations anyway. 2003 was, as far as as we are concerned, was just one more example of us making a Dam mess in other people's territory. But, none of that excuses what Russia is doing right now. In fact, it is an absolute equivalence.

Can't believe I'm saying this but....I agree with you Oldie 🙂🙂 Problem is unless his generals and the public turn on Putin I can't see how he will ever face a war crimes trial. I echo everything that's been said gaslife. So pleased you and your partner are safe but sick to the stomach reading your post and watching the news daily.
