Looks like Germany are going to agree the Leopard 2 transfer at last, rumours the US may do likewise with their Abrams tank. That's going to cause a big training and logistical issue with so many versions, both the Leopard 2 and Abrams have had several modifications over the years and I doubt the latest versions will be the ones going. We don't have any latest ones!! The West needs to give the Ukrainians the weaponry to push Russia out as their fighting a proxy war, trying to engineer a stalemate by starving them of heavy weapons won't work,Russia must lose.

Agreed, Putin has to be seen to be beaten otherwise it will happen again in a few years time, once they've had chance to regroup. I can see a mucky compromise with many countries going back to business as usual. As horrible as war is, peace at any price will only cause worse in the short term. Not an easy option whatever happens. Putin, if he falls, will likely be replaced by someone potentially worse. It's a mafia state with oil and nukes.

Agree totally as unpalatable as it is any sort of fudge come compromise will be see n as weakness by Putin.

Some people actually want to believe this stuff. Even Nobby was spouting this on the Brexit thread the other year.

Not sure specifically although I believe Carlson is one of those 'shock jocks' who tends to be an admirer of Putin and apologist for his actions.

From a few videos of tucker I just watched it appears to me that tucker is saying there was peace talks in April but Biden and boris preferred the option to arm Ukraine instead so boris calling bullshit on that I suppose . Think I’d believe anyone over boris anyway 😂 .

It also looks as if tucker is no fan of Putin or Russia , but is piling the blame on Biden , boris and the west for pushing the war on .

It's a poor attempt at blaming Biden for something, anything even, and by extention it appeases the Kremlin. As much as I dislike Boris, on Ukraine he is right.

He’s right to say Ukraine should join the EU ? Boris is only out for Boris and in my honest opinion he doesn’t give a stuff for them , he’s just using them for his profile .

In that they should be free to apply should they wish, yes. All subject to the normal procedures. Same with Nato membership, The Kremlin can't dictate what Ukraine does. As for his reasons? Probably more seeing himself as some latter day Churchill during his Wilderness Years, he did write a biography of him after all. Whatever his motivation, standing up to Putin is vital for European security.

Zelensky coming to the UK then onto Brussels. Good to see our support continuing despite a change in PM. "Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive in the UK today, in his first visit since Russia's invasion of Ukraine last year. The UK government said he would meet British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and make a speech in Parliament later. It has also announced that British training of Ukrainian forces will be expanded to cover fighter jet pilots and marines. It's also expected the UK will announce fresh sanctions targeting Russia later. Plans have been announced to train Ukrainian pilots to fly Nato-standard fighter jets in the future, a key request from Ukraine." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-64566248

Mood music is suggesting Finland will now join once Turkey ratifies their accession. Up until now, they were only going to join if Sweden did so at the same time.
In other news, Russia seems to have stepped up attacks, looking for a tangible victory by the anniversary of the 3 day special military operation.
Stories emanating from Moldova that there could be something going on there too now.

One year on, still no end in sight.
Labour's left have distanced themselves from Corbyn's idealistic yet highly naive views. Reminds me of that scene in Red Dwarf where the pacifist doppelgangers are killed by the aliens.

Interesting result, bearing in mind Estonia has a large ethnic Russian population, something like a quarter of the population. It's also where the UK has its Nato area of responsibility.
"The centre-right Reform Party of Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, one of Europe’s most outspoken supporters of Ukraine, has overwhelmingly won Estonia’s general election.
Meanwhile, a far-right populist challenger lost seats in a vote that focused on national security and the economy of the Baltic country."
In the meantime, it looks like Bakhmut is becoming a modern-day Verdun with Wagner being brought to exhaustion according to some reports.

The war mongers are back, fresh from a million dead in the the gulf, they’re absolutely certain this time the TV is telling the truth.
Oh familiar Logo, how I admire the mobilising force of thee.
At least this time there’s no actual question of WMDs.
