Good to see the US giving the go ahead to use force to strike in Russia itself, albeit within limited circumstances.
Russia threatening with nuclear wargames, that's been said so many times that it's coming across as empty threats now.

Agreed that forbidding Ukraine impeded their ability to defend themselves, have to be wary of creeping escalation.

One step some countries appear interested in, such as the Baltics and Poland even possibly France, is backfilling Ukrainian forces within Ukraine itself. Not directly involved but freeing up areas such as border guards in the north or west. That is a Rubicon moment that could happen in the next year. Mostly though, it's down to who wins in the US.

Very good idea which helps the Ukrainian military as directly as it's possible to do without actually helping them directly.

I agree, however by being on Ukrainian soil they become targets no matter how indirectly and being killed is a definite possibility.

Agreed if Trump wins and stops US aid I can see Ukraine collapsing.

One of Putin's idealists. ""The 'minimal victory' can be reached after 'liberating' Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Odesa with their regions. This is about restoring so-called 'Novorossiya' and these regions joining Russia. The rest of Ukrainian regions must go through de-militarization." "Restoring Novorossiya is the minimal program, this is the moment when we enter peace negotiations." Therefore, the second option for the SMO's success is to end the existence of Ukraine. This is not a victory over Ukrainians but a victory over the hegemony of the West. This is a big success. Success has the form of ending the existence of the entity of Ukraine." x.com/Gerashchenko_en/status/1796174344361488856?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1796174344361488856%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=

Trump? We have to give Ukraine what it needs. The rate Russia is reportedly going through soldiers, the fighting strength of the current British Army would last only two months and run out of supplies in a matter of days. Thankfully we'd fight as a coalition and husband our forces better, but just let that sink in. Even assuming the figures are grossly overstated, Russia loses in a month what they lost in 10 years in Afghanistan.

It's staggering, they appear to have an endless supply of young men who are prepared to die in a war they probably know little about, fascinating what endless propaganda can achieve.

Offering passports (notably to Nepalese and Africans) helps. Funny how there was no mention of Hunter Biden, Nazis or secret biolabs that started this all off. Sadly there are plenty this side of the Dnieper river who fell and still fall for that.

Yep,anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows that Putin has had this planned for years unfortunately, the West has been caught asleep ala 1939 and in many respects are still asleep. He must be defeated,no compromise,no forcing Ukraine to give away territory because history shows us he will be back for more. His military needs to be smashed so that the thought of further conflict and associated losses are burnt into the memory of Russian citizens. Plus a loss for the West here will only encourage China and NK . It is indeed a sad state of affairs that in the 21st century we cannot co exist with different political systems, the last 80 yrs should inform us in the West that whilst we may detest other regimes we have a complete inability to change them and we shouldn't even try .

Engineers at a nuclear power station were captured at the start of the war and are being traded for POWs. About half, 60ish, remain. They have lost so much weight they look like the Japanese POWs in the Second World War.
In other news, Lavrov is off to Chad to cement ties with them. Chad recently expelled the French forces helping. Africa is increasingly becoming a battleground for East-West tensions and conflict.

"Russian naval vessels that will be making port in Cuba next week is an attempt to invoke the historical memory of the 1962 Cuban missile crisis, according to a leading thinktank.
The Cuban ministry of the revolutionary armed forces announced yesterday that four Russian northern fleet vessels would make an official visit to the port of Havana between 12-17 June.
The US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said the move was "likely part of a larger effort to invoke the historical memory of the Cuban missile crisis as part of Russia's reflexive control campaign to encourage US self-deterrence". "
One to look out for is Venezuela. They have territorial disputes with Guyana which could bring us into play.
By the way, 'nice' to see Hungary attending the BRICS conference in St Petersberg.

I bet, hoping to split the fragile EU !! Absolutely, sowing division in the West since he came to power. One of the many reasons why I thought Brexit was a really bad idea and Trump a disaster.
