Drove my daughter to Heathrow this morning, so tuned into LBC and listened to Nick Ferrari ( which I normally never would ). To be fair to him he was pushing back , but caller after caller was defending Farage’s words on Russia about how it was the ‘wests’ fault Putin attacked Ukraine . NATO expansion provoked him etc etc . A few Reform voting nutters said everyone having a go at Farage was all a left wing media plot to discourage people from voting Reform and to take down Farage .
Absolute nutjobs the lot of them but bloody worrying and dangerous that these idiots think the way they do 🙄🇬🇧

Do you believe Russia had every right to site nuclear weapons on Cuba in the 50's only 100 miles from US soil ? Did they do it to provoke a reaction from the US.? Was the Blockade (which we all know it was) but called a quarantine by the US an act of war? Had things escalated who do you think would have pressed the button first. (Personally I think it would have been the US to flatten Cuba first). Not looking to get into an argument with anybody and I am certainly no lover of Russia and Putin just interested in people's thoughts.

Cuba is an interesting one but for me, ultimately, is a false comparison. The geopolitical circumstances, technological advancements and the actual stationing of nuclear weapons makes this more an apples and pears situation. No nuclear weapons have moved eastwards, for example. Language is also important, the use of expanding suggests negative, forced connotations. What has happened in reality is that newly independent or freed nations are looking towards the west for security and prosperity, leaving the Moscow influence. Putin is on record in thinking the dissolution of the USSR was a mistake. As I mentioned to Super a while ago, Putin is merely using this as an excuse, along with Nazis, biolabs, coups and other on line troll misinformation that sadly so many had and still fall for. P.S. I don't think the US would have nuked Cuba, they wouldn't have needed to. The story of the Soviet submarine B59 is an interesting one.

Hey France is Macrons reported comments of possible Civil War credible or is he just trying to frighten the electorate into voting Centrists again, rather than have the extreme Right or Left as being the government or the opposition?

Personally I think he's trying to frighten the electorate. Certainly none of our french friends, who we spend a lot of time with, have never mentioned this nor are they concerned about any potential civil war. Scare mongering by Macron.

Russia moved tactical/field-based nuclear weapons into Belarus a couple of months ago, and also moved some onto the Kaliningrad Peninsula. Whilst it's academic where they are based (their range covers all of Europe anyway), it's another political statement Putin was making and NATO was paying attention...

Russia hits a children's hospital, all Nato and EU's fault. We made them do it and it's a Nato summit soon, message sent.

Did you see our latest gift from the MOD? We've pretty much given the Royal Artillery's stock of howitzers, the cupboard is bare.

Yep I did, might as well use them now in what is fast becoming a proxy war ,rather than them sitting here doing bugger all,I assume they will be replaced over time.

Could be caught up in the election, the hope is by have some replacements in service from 2028 but could be brought forward if money is prioritised.

One thing I do give Boris credit for is Ukraine. He's over meeting Trump at the moment.
"Boris Johnson has posted on X that he has just met the presidential candidate who was "on top form after the shameful attempt on his life".
He says he discussed Ukraine with him - interesting in light of his running mate choice, who has spoken out against giving the country more funding to fight its war with Russia.
Mr Johnson adds: "I have no doubt that [Mr Trump] will be strong and decisive in supporting that country and defending democracy." "

10 years ago today, Flight MH17 was shot down by a Russian BUK missile. Nearly 300 killed.
