The answer would have been English, just as France still spoke French, Danes spoke Danish and so on. Churchill would have got my backing especially as I've been calling out Putin for years. This has been building up since at least 2014, probably before that with Litvinenko. We need to stand up to him now whatever happens in Ukraine, this won't go away quietly. But the idea of sending in an assassination squad or stealth bombers is the stuff of Hollywood fantasy, in the real world it would fail and probably lead to an ICBM landing on London or Washington (who would reply in kind). |

Funnily enough we were going to, in 1940, but Sweden wouldn't allow passage. |

Hitler saw western Europeans as equals and had no plans to absorb them into Greater Germany. Eastern Europe under lebensraum, you'd be right. |

Several reports suggesting Ukrainian forces are holding up well, particularly in the north, less so in the south. Unconfirmed that an airport has been retaken.
Russia likely to use greater force now with even more casualties. So sad and so unnecessary.
