Context - Shankly said this in the 1970's. Healthcare was nowhere near the level it is these days, people lived shorter lives, death figures of adults and children would have been particularly high in city like Liverpool, which suffered from widespread poverty. He (Shankly) wasn’t directly referencing all those things though so it’s a totally baseless argument to make. I honestly don’t care what Barton said at all. I’m simply pointing out that the comparison to Shankley’s comments were totally out of context! I'll agree to disagree - life's too short! UTG
