From their forum, a snippet of their fans think we (especially Coutts) coerced a poor ref, time wasted, were thugs, dark arts etc....some of their fans give credit for us playing best football and deserving a win, while others berate the non performance in a large crowd. I thought they were decent on the day, created only one open play free flowing move that was dangerous, but looked more threatening on a set piece.....apart from those separate, unrelated incidents, I thought we were well worth our win and again played some brilliant one touch football. I like PV. It's a working class area, an established club that often keep near where we are under the guise of bigger and (sometimes)better rivals, it can be intimidating.....all the aspects of a great atmospheric day out. But.....my thoughts are: If they don't get their s together, get 3 mid fit, I can see them not even getting to Wembley, let alone contemplating promotion. Walsall away, is a this division local derby for them and someone on their forum alluded to a bit of a bogey side. Newport at home, on the Monday after everyone has played ramps up the pressure, and they're decent. Exeter away, we know what that is all about as they're probably the strongest team we've played over 3 matches this season. My point is: they're catchable. They run on empty with 3 key players out. I see automatic 3rd place (as FGR and Exeter as 1&2) a contest between PV, Cobblers, us and Sutton. Win 3 and we're up to 82 points.....if PV reach that, I'll be surprised, and they'll be rightly promoted by virtue of a superior goal difference. ......but it's all to play for. I love how their fans mention us going to ground a lot. They were doing a lot of that especially in the first half and winning free kicks.

Great day, fantastic result and pleased for Lofty to get off the mark like that! Thought the police and stewards were friendly enough and good to let us drink cans in the carpark and for kids to run on the pitch at the end. Vale Park is a great ground and I hope they can go up under DC (with the rovers of course!) and fill it more often. After yesterday and going to Walsall earlier in the season, it amazes me how unprepared clubs are for a large away following. A couple of pop up bars and some portaloos must be easy to arrange, and would have earned the club a fair amount of money. Credit to Gorringe and the Rovers on what they have done with the new bars and fanzone at The Mem. Sore throat this morning! Bring on Forest Green!

I think it's either us you or Northampton for the last spot right now. Sutton have a shout yes but it's going to be one of us three I believe. Despite yesterday we're still in the driving seat but things are so close and can be turned upside down in the next 90 minutes of football. You have FGR and Northampton are at an in form Orient so no given wins there. We of course have the smallsall and ANYTHING could happen down there!!

That was a very good finish from Lofty - pace, control and clinical. IMO the raw article that arrived here is being worked on and hopefully we will have the number 9 we need come next season. He’s not as strong in the air as he should be for such a big player and again hopefully, that will develop as well over the coming months. Well played Lofty, great cameo.

I guess all fans are like that when they lose an important match. The funniest one was someone who complained about “No.15” and how he controlled the referee, moaned about him, called him names and then he said that they needed someone like him! Just shows how effective Coutts was. And in the end we did to them yesterday something similar to what they did to us at the Mem in December. UTG!

Great point, Wareham, bit of their own medicine... Also, in all the home vlogs and highlight available, I can't see one incident of "controlling the ref"....? Also, not PV fault, but last season we had a team that were bullied. I think we can be robust, but not dirty....but a breath of fresh air to actually be acknowledged we compete physically.

Great to have some physicality in the team, but even better to see that we can match that with some real technical skills. Loads of really good triangles played yesterday in really tight areas. I guess that is a manger that has been around the very best tacticians and mix with game management from the highest level in the game. Great to watch.

The mindset of these players is a totally different one from last season. I think this 11 plus subs would be ok in League 1 or at least perform better than those last season. But I know JB will look to improve in a higher league. Watching it yesterday I thought how most of our players kept a distance from the ref and Coutts as captain did the talking. He was in the refs ear but it was effective. We had 6 bookings from only 7 fouls according to the BBC website. Against 16 PV fouls and 3 yellows. They just didn’t like having it done to them. And I suspect like you I’ve seen enough football to know that it’s the result that causes most reaction on a forum. Had they won it would have been different from them. On this occasion we won so..... Onto FGR now and I presume a day less to train and set up for this match. Attacking again and prepare to play on the front foot, get the players to recover and go again. Don’t think any further ahead than the next match. UTG!

Didn't consider the fact that the Stoke lad would have enjoyed that win more than most.

Thanks - yeah I watched it all yesterday, I just didn't appreciate at the time with all the emotions going on how much he had to do and how well he took that goal.

One of my favourite away games in a long, long time that.
Superb performance from the boys and, unlike earlier in the season, I wasn’t worried one bit when we conceded early on - had complete faith in the team that they’d get themselves back into it.
Fully deserved 3 points and that Lofty goal at the end was just the icing on the cake. Magical moment.

I started with the Vale commentary but that was a tough listen so went back to Radio Bristol.
