I shall cut the grass tomorrow afternoon. My Father wasn't into football and it seemed to me that he was always cutting the grass at home on cup final afternoon. In his memory I now do the same as, as others have said, the competition has lost all meaning and interest - until we get there one day of course.

It should be the last game of the season All league matches should have been completed It should kick off at 3.00pm The sun must be shining Tv coverage:- We must have a celebrity It's a Knockout We must have interviews in team hotels Abide with Me!! Players must be lead out onto the pitch from behind the goal to the left of the royal box for the long walk There must be a white horse! Is that it? John Motson.

As a young lad in the 1960s and 1970s, FA Cup Final Day was always something special - I remember going round to a family friend's house in the early 1970s to watch one final as they were the first in the area to have a colour TV! The first final I watched was Everton v. Sheffield Wednesday in 1966 on a small black-and-white TV in my grandparents' house in Eastville - and I loved it! Remember being glued to the TV in subsequent years from around 1100 to follow the team coaches to Wembley, it seemed like the whole country stopped for one afternoon. Sadly these day nobody cares - I'd much rather watch the early rounds where lower-league teams try to claim their giant-killing scalp. Feel sorry for the current generation, they just don't get how special FA Cup Final Day was. Well remember that one! Was actually in digs in Liverpool watching it!, Weds went 2-0 up before a west country lad called Trebilcock, or something, scored 2 for Everton and found instant legend status at Goodison, strange he seemed to disappear rather quickly from the football scene, think our future promotion winning manager Don Megson was a full back for Weds ,not sure, but think he broke his leg?

Absolutely no interest in watching Chelsea v liverpool yet again, sadly the days of Watford,Sunderland pompey etc getting there are probably gone as the top three at least have such strength in depth that hardly anyone stands a chance. Really used to love it in the 70s when it was a big day,me and mates all around the new colour telly, stuffing snacks and drinking to much pop. Probably Sunderland in 73,Southampton in 76 and obviously arsenal in 79 are my best memories.

As someone too young to know, I've always assumed it was because the FA Cup final was one of very few matches shown live on free-to-air telly, so people were excited to see the top players.
Now you can't move for PL content and as people have said, same group of teams seem to always win

Wolstenholme more like, Frank Rae and marching band would be good!

I’m Looking forward to it. It’s going to be a nice warm sunny day , going to light up the bbq and watch the match in the garden.
Yeah the FA cup isn’t what it was but it’s still the best domestic cup competition in the world.

I get people’s points about the FA Cup not being what it was but I enjoy cup final day. A rare game of good football on free-to-air TV, usually sunny too.
It’s not something I’m massively invested in, but I’m looking forward to it.

They tried and failed with a euro league just over a year ago, after what happened dont think it will happen again anytime soon. Would be nice if they sodded off to leave the real stuff to proper Clubs and fans. THat would be ideal really, yes.

One of my favourite Gas games was getting battered by West Brom in the quarterfinals.
Real belief before the game of a trip to Wembley, less so when singing "we're gonna win 6-5" in the last few minutes.
Dream every year of drawing the Sh!t away but it never happens.

I think one of the reasons it has lost its appeal is due to the saturation of live televised football.
For most of my childhood the FA Cup final was the only live game each season (except World Cups) so literally the whole country tuned in no matter who the finalists were.
It’s rare these days that anyone outside the Prem top 6 contest the final and most fans have probably watched them 20+ times on telly already this season so nothing new to see.
The last final I watched live was 1994 and since then my interest in the FA Cup ends with our elimination (usually Nov/Dec 😂)

I’ve always thought they should take away the champions league spot for finishing 4th in the Prem and give it to the FA Cup winners instead. Would make it much more exciting.
