Apparently its cup final day, Beeb trying hard to big it up but failing miserably as far as this footie fan is concerned! The powers that be and the elite have combined to devalue the old lady so much i barely have a passing interest. Gone are the days of wall to wall tv coverage from 11.00 am , even drawing an elite club means nowt now as you will only face a reserve or youth team, that philosophy even spread to championship now! No romance in todays finalist, just two of the elite, the only story of interest being that apparently Chelsea have a brother and sister playing in there respective finals, that's certainly one for the family album, apart from Chelsea, Liverpool fans any one else interested? As for this old traditionalist i am more interested in the multitude of play offs happening in the lower leagues, regards 'Victor'!

I completely agree, and when they spout off proudly that they've won it for the umpteenth time I just roll my eyes and say 'good for you'. Couldn't care less for the FA Cup anymore

Gone are the days of being glued to the box from 1100 to 1800 and the magic of the cup from years gone.
All down to the cockroaches from the premiership devaluing it.
Just watch the early rounds for the shocks now, better than the final invariably contested by 2 x Premier league under 21 sides
The fact it now sits as a side line to the final day of the season further devalues it. Cockroaches all.
Bring back rattles, big scarves with ties, tall hats and peeing on the terrace in front of you.....oh, hold on........
Rant ends>>>>

The magic from cup final day disappeared a long time ago for me.
Perhaps the semi finals being at Wembley have something to do with it but also I’ve little interest in premier league going’s on.
The only time my interest may peak is if there is a Wigan or a Portsmouth in the final.

Such a shame but a sign of the times I guess. When teams would rather finish 4th in the league, or at least that’s the way it appears, then you know it’s all gone as a competition. I can still recite who won the cup in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s but I can’t be sure who won it when over the last 10 years. I started to watch ‘The Way to Wembley’ or something like that on the BBC on Wednesday but it had two people trying to be funny and failing and didn’t tell anything. Unwatchable so I stopped. The magic of the cup has gone. Very sad. (Imo of course! 🤔) UTG!

Didn't know about it, not that fussed about it. Unfortunately I'm not sure most Premiership Clubs are either.

As a young lad in the 1960s and 1970s, FA Cup Final Day was always something special - I remember going round to a family friend's house in the early 1970s to watch one final as they were the first in the area to have a colour TV! The first final I watched was Everton v. Sheffield Wednesday in 1966 on a small black-and-white TV in my grandparents' house in Eastville - and I loved it! Remember being glued to the TV in subsequent years from around 1100 to follow the team coaches to Wembley, it seemed like the whole country stopped for one afternoon. Sadly these day nobody cares - I'd much rather watch the early rounds where lower-league teams try to claim their giant-killing scalp.
Feel sorry for the current generation, they just don't get how special FA Cup Final Day was.

I certainly wont be watching it though I will watch the highlights provided Chelsea win , I agree completely about the playoffs they are more enjoyable to watch as you are watching teams that have not lost there soul and are still retaining the elements that attracted us all to the game in the first place. You have had experience off the playoffs and I imagine they are horrendous games to lose.

I seem to remember it going down hill (in the eyes of many) in 1999, When Alex Ferguson withdrew Utd from the tournament to play in a world club cup thing.. Sometimes these things get muddled up in my brain after all these years though ..

As most of us know, it's tomorrow. Having said that lost interest in the FA cup final a very longtime ago and as for the way the BBC big up the woman's game and never have any interest for footballs lower leagues, I won't comment , I might offend some.

It should be the last game of the season
All league matches should have been completed
It should kick off at 3.00pm
The sun must be shining
Tv coverage:-
We must have a celebrity It's a Knockout
We must have interviews in team hotels
Abide with Me!!
Players must be lead out onto the pitch from behind the goal to the left of the royal box for the long walk
There must be a white horse!
Is that it?
