I agree the sponsors have paid lots of money to help the club and should be given their rewards. I just think it would be nice for ordinary fans to be given the chance to meet and chat with current squad at the present time. (Obviously it would be beneficial if the club made a couple of grand or three as well). Oh well, when Keysey organizes the belated 30th anniversary in 2054 maybe we can all meet the current players then. (If we ordinary fans have the contacts to find out about the sold out event, beforehand). What's a matter with you, endless gripes and digs at the club? Get yourself down to the open day in a couple of months and meet the players. Fair play to the club for having a great awards night for 500 people. People who no doubt were sponsors, suppliers etc etc who were able to meet the players in nice surroundings with good food and drink etc. Another thing that shows the new Rovers for want of a better word and I have no doubt TG will organise an excellent open day where the ordinary fans can meet the players with lots of things for the kids etc etc. The supporters club awards were given to the players before kickoff last Saturday if you did not see it and for those that stayed on who did not invade the pitch the manager and players came out onto the pitch in front of the North terrace to acknowledge the support and Wael did so on the stage in the fans zone. Good job your not the supporter of a Premier league club because you would be even more disappointed.

And after last Saturday- I don’t believe it! I’m loving it and still on a massive high from last Saturday! UTG!

To be fair, I enjoyed last year’s FA Cup Final immensely as my son was born in Leicester and supports them, as well as the Gas of course. It was a bit of an upset, it was the first time they had won it and you could see how much it meant to everyone involved, including the owner, whose father (the previous owner) had passed away in a helicopter crash since the miracle of 2016. That was almost a proper FA Cup narrative of old. I loved the Coventry and Wimbledon wins in my youth and still remember a lot about the finals from about ‘85/86 to ‘89/‘90. The problem is that in the premier league era, the big money clubs have been able to field second teams in the early rounds and not really care about progress until they get to around the quarter finals, sometimes later than that. This devalues the whole competition really, when those teams can still, like this year, contest the Final, showing the massive gulf in ability and funds between the top 7 or 8 and the rest. Life moves on. It’s sad. I do enjoy watching the Champions League as a neutral so I suppose it’s just the way the game has changed, for worse and better. We have to be very careful to safeguard our game in the next few years as the dangers are there for all to see. Agreed ,the Leicester win did buck the trend of recent years and have a little bit of the old magic!

All league clubs used get tickets to attend the FA cup final. In the 80's and 90's, I believe the FC gifted the tickets to the SC who held a draw for a lucky SC member and guest to attend. If the FA still distribute the cup final tickets, I wonder who gets the tickets now? Still think the club are missing a trick. If a SC player of the year presentation was held in front of the clubhouse from 3pm, with a BBQ and everyday fans had the chance to mingle with the players while watching the cup final, the bar profits alone would be huge. Plus the shop could have been open selling end of season stock, a 50/50 draw etc Who would have thought the prawn sandwich brigade happened at Rovers. Only the wealthy get to have a player of the Year event. While it looked good, did the club actually make any money? The cost of hiring the Concorde hanger must have been mega bucks, then paying for a celeb to do the mc- ing, probably a private PR company to organize it and no profits from the bars. Very nice that there’s a very glamorous awards ceremony but if I’m not invited then I’m not the slightest bit interested or impressed. Struggle to see what a bog standard supporter gets to get excited about with these swanky awards shows that they can’t even attend anyway.

Good points, well made - supporters will get the chance to mingle with players at the open day, and they are always accessible on match days, when the arrive/leave The Mem. I think we need to appreciate how much this season has taken out of them, and not expect them to be wheeled out to meet the fans on various occassions, until they've had a good break.

My biggest criticism with the FA Cup is that once upon a time we could dream of getting to a final and winning it, but now we can't.

My biggest criticism with the FA Cup is that once upon a time we could dream of getting to a final and winning it, but now we can't. We did dream in 77/78. Beat Southampton at Eastville in 4th round, technically beat Ipswich also in the 5th but for a bent ref. We’d have had Millwall in the quarter finals who Ipswich thrashed 6-1 I think and went on to win the cup. That could have been our year.

I'm looking forward to the Eurovision song contest more ! (ouch) And so you should be...! Our entry is the best in a long, long time. What a voice he has! A great voice and song! We're third favourites by many bookies and deservedly so. Very excited. Norway (lol) have a cracking song. Think Ukraine will win - good song and, you know... the obvious.

It is very political but we also send in some crap. Last year was awful. I think we'll be in the top 10 but finish below where we should.

I think we will do much better than we have for a long time but not do as well as Sam deserves. I think we'll be about 5th or 6th at a guess. I also like Sweden, Ukraine and Spain. Norway and Serbia for the quirkyness value. Yes, Ukraine will def win. I can never remember a favourite so short but I still think it is value in a weird way, just can't see it getting beat!

Yeah you could be right. maybe ive just got it very wrong and the Europeans just have very very bad taste in music. I havent bothered watching it for many years now after we had a number (of what I thought were) decent songs that flopped and saw the same countries giving each other maximum points every year

I think there is quite a lot of different culture and variety in Europe. I don't know what other countries think of it but I feel like we are a bit too dismissive of it in this country. Maybe not helped by the political voting and some of the crap we have sent out in recent years. Don't get me wrong there is a lot of rubbish songs in Eurovision as well but the winner/ones at the top usually are quite good IMO.
