Sadly we are a selling club and Aaron like every other player must take their chance when it comes along to play at a higher level. I actually think Wael will pay him Championship wages to stay, but ultimately when an offer too good to turn down comes along I think he will go. He would leave with my blessings though 👍🏾 Agreed. But in the summer (assuming we don’t go up)

You are right and I’m not confident Collins will be here for years to come by any means, after all he has proven he’s too good for League 1 this season. But like Lambert, he could leave Tomorrow with his head held high knowing full well he has given his all for the club and hasn’t forced a move by requesting it or slagging us off in public. That is the difference between between the way Lambert and Matty Taylor are viewed by Gasheads, one left the club showing great respect with real dignity, the other left out the back door with nothing but disregard. I’m confident that if Collins leaves, it’ll be in the Lambert category rather than the Snake. Agreed. And I think Lambert signed a new contract just before we sold him so that we’d get a bigger fee If I remember rightly ? He did, but from what I recall he had offers and I still don’t think he wanted to leave. I think he had to be talked into leaving by jon ward . My recollection of it anyway 👍

AC is popular and enjoying his working life in a place close to his family home.
There is a lot to be said for the value of happiness.
A league 1 goalscorer is still on a very good wage. A wage which if managed well will lead to a more comfortable future than most 25 year olds will have.
If you are happy ,make a move when it excites most not just because it makes more money.

He’s probably on say around £5,000 a week with us and playing week in week out and Scoring lots of goals and is loved by the fans in a city he’s comfortable in where as he could leave and earn 10-15 grand a week higher up the pyramid but possibly won’t play every week possibly won’t score as many goals and possibly won’t be as happy. We’ve seen it many times and there’s a lot for him and the club to consider. I think he’ll probably leave in the summer for a championship club if we don’t go up ( and I don’t think we will) and good luck to him if he does but I’ll be annoyed if it’s for less than 3 million if his current form continues between now and the summer.

Nice in principle, but say we're offered £3 mil for him and the chance for him to triple his salary on a 3 year deal. That's £300k signing on fee plus what £6k a week? That's a nice £1.2 mil for him. I'd go for that if I were him.

You reckon he's on £5k a week with us? I'm really out of touch with stuff like this.

Meanwhile you are isolated as you have moved hundreds of miles from family and friends and are stuck on a 3yr deal. You end up making vad money choices as you are depressed and find you have blown your futures money. Hope this never happens to AC but the point being the value of happiness.

Well I heard Twatty Failure was on around £4,000 a week before he left for the 82ers and that was a few years ago, average wages in league 1 are apparently around £3000 so it’s more of an educated guess really. Doesn’t really matter though , no doubt most championship sides could offer double or more than we could so the exact amounts are pretty much irrelevant.

It is a tough choice but considering the short earning life of a Footballer, money has to play a part sooner rather than later.

My recollection of it anyway 👍 Why did John Ward involved, he wasn’t our manager? Oh yea 😂 My recollection is obviously not that good. Having just read something else regarding his transfer to Southampton I think my recollection was a dream or hallucinations 😂

Since before we signed him I said how I thought AC is a lot like Paul Randall. However, Randall went to a higher level with Stoke and it didn't work out well for him. Few Championship clubs are paying high fees and those that do want players for the PL. A minimum of £3.5m + add-ons would seem about right. Wages, prob get aound 20k week. I could imagine him going to a club such as Sunderland.

From memory Rickie Lambert said the same before moving to Southampton a week later! Signed a new contact to ensure we got some decent money for him.
