FFS - if you like it on here (i do) stay and enjoy. If you don't, then enjoy wherever you go. It's really that simple. Jesus, should Bristol have only one united football team for all Bristol football fan's too!

Football is divided nowadays everywhere, Terraces don't even sing as one, they have about 4 different groups all singing THIER songs, people don't join in anymore, society has changed , we're all selfish buggers that don't like JOINING TOGETHER, i've heard all this united stuff for years, it NEVER happens, it's a fundamental lacking in todays world, it is not "All for one, one for all"...it's "I'm alright Jack, f**k the rest" Sorry but that's what the facts facing us are saying, and particularly with a team that are constantly performing crap! Apologies for being harsh everyone.

There used to be two forums and now there's two forums. Well, actually there uses to be four forums and now there's five. Could say much the same about the IF existing when the OF existed. Was that not divisory?
Are we gonna have a forum where all we do is talk about forums or are we just gonna talk about football and cringe at jons jokes?

Since the board so easily dismissed the OF (claiming it only had 1,000 users overall when in fact it had 1,000 users online during the Mansfield game and 10,000 users overall), why does anyone think 'a united forum' will influence their decisions one little bit?

FFS this is ridiculous.
How anyone on the IF can now moan about there being two forums is beyond me (I'm aware a fair number are not btw).
The IF had the PERFECT opportunity to unite under one forum after coming to the decision that the old forum was outdated (i.e. lacked ability to view easily on a mobile device/tablet etc). At that point, everyone was more than welcome to use this forum as Ras and everyone have said all along.
Instead, they chose to set up an entirely new forum (very similar to this one!) thus ensuring two forums continued.
I don't have an issue with them doing that as frankly, I couldn't care less whether we have one forum, 2 forums or 12,000 forums - it's an internet forum for crying out loud - who really gives a sh*t? (Quite a few it would seem!).
But for those from the IF having a bit of a dig about there being two forums.... well yes - and you ensured that continued!

Someone mentioned a lesbian 3 way. Any more info on this? I am half way through a 40 year intensive study of this subject and will report my findings at some point. If I can still see to type it.

I think the responses here are defensive and missing the point. The question of the absolute number of forums is hardly relevant in normal circumstances.
But, in this time of the club being at its lowest ebb, at a time when there has been wholesale criticism of the BoD (although the degree varies) this was an opportunity for the fans to present their case in a united front. Here the issue of forums comes into play as those that would resist change and seek to divert criticism as they will, as they always have done, claim that the majority of fans do not agree or support any proposition put forward.
This is the issue. Now if you disagree with that then I can only guess that you see the meeting organised by Mark on the 10th as a complete waste of time, or the organisation of an Independent Supporters Association as meaningless and time wasting.
Of course its not for everybody, because it does take a degree of commitment and belief. But, if you, the fan, wants to be anything more than be treated as a retail consumer (as we are) then that is the choice before you.
To the responses
Jon, Not harsh at all, stark reality. That being the case I just wish those that you describe would just turn up and be the retail customer I have described. But I bet they don't post on the Debenhams Consumer forum
Ras You know I am sure, that the IF was set up when the original OF was shut down and hundreds were banned when it reopened. Me included and it was not our desire. Much happened thereafter which further deepened the rift, including barring people from attending sponsored events, although I did get into the 125 year celebration under the radar of through my company sponsorship, too much consternation as you might imagine But, for you to write that suggestion is either disingenuous, or perhaps exposes a lack of knowledge of the facts.

Again that's not the point nor the intent
Childish deflection by those who cannot articulate a viewpoint

Other site is not available on mobile platforms is it? Can't locate it on Taptalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It's available when you search for thegasroom I think (that was the original name before we bought the domain). Fwiw, the people who are moaning about there being two forums are doing so on both forums, so I'm a bit fed up of people saying it's the IF who are complaining. I'm pretty sure this thread and others were started by posters who post on both. Why is the IF as a whole getting blamed for it? I'll repeat what I said over on the Independent Forum: Now how about we stop talking about them and us, and just get on with posting about the things people want to read. I think a lot of people on here have also got a login on the IF, so it's hardly as if we're some bunch of strange outsiders with radical views.

Oldie, again you don't say what was stopping people coming here when the old format IF closed??
I really hope the supporter meeting is very positive, productive and successful. Any lack of enthusiasm I have expressed for the meeting tomorrow is purely down to my perception of the people running BRFC not in the individuals involved in the meeting. I fully support their aims and goals and I hope they are successful. I just don't have any faith that regardless of what we do that this BOD will listen.
Totally agree with JTS, its a forum. Enjoy it or enjoy a different one. Or enjoy them all! That's modern life.
Finally, and again purely my own view, I hope that one day (soon if the rumors are to be believed) the current Board will be replaced and the new Board reopen an OF and we can ALL join that one with a fresh start and no baggage.

Hugo That's not what happened. The IF moved to an improved platform, it did not close. As I read the comments when people migrated to the IF from the OF when that was shut down, the setting up of this forum had little to do with technology, although that was raised, but more because the robustness of debate made some feel uncomfortable. Why would IF members migrate here when there has been an 8 year history, whne the membership had grown to over 900? For example. One of the moderators of this forum who did migrate got upset when I ridiculed the logic of someone who posted that he was "Proud to be a Rovers Fan" I think I was defined as a "Faceless Bully"
Bit weak really isn't it.

Oldie, again you don't say what was stopping people coming here when the old format IF closed?? When was the old IF closed? It was replaced with a revamped site, due to the requests from the user base for an improved platform, and for a while both the old and new were up and running during the changeover. To suggest that it was closed is incorrect.

Read it again, I said old format was closed, not the IF.
This whole thread not particularly helpful to anything.

I'm sorry but this is where your argument falls apart completely. We're talking about an internet forum here - not a football club. History makes no real difference; if you were keeping the same web address or login credentials then your argument may have a shred of substance. However, the new forum was set up with a new company, using a new domain name, where all users had to sign up from scratch - there was no continuity whatsoever. If you are/were so keen to have us "all under one roof", when the decision was made to move to a new platform that allowed easy navigation/readability on a mobile device and/or tablet, you all just could have moved here. Alas, the decision was taken to keep it seperate. The IF had the perfect opportunity to do as you suggest, but decided against it and carried on doing their own thing. IMO, for that reason, there is no argument (debate) to be had.

Forums are communities. There's a new location for the IF but it's the same community, ergo the same forum. That's clear to see given that when we changed software, 750 people moved over within a week.
And I'm sorry, but blaming the IF posters for not coming over here is nonsense. The decision was taken by Ras to set up his own forum after a day of posting on the IF and not liking it. He was perfectly within his rights to do that, and good luck to him for it. There was never any chance of IF people coming here because why would a community built up over 8 years want to come to a forum with different posters, run by different people that had only been set up a few days?
It's a non argument. Who cares where people post, but it really grates on me that people are trying to make out that we're somehow too different, too radical, too negative on the IF. By and large we all want exactly the same things.
