Forums are communities. There's a new location for the IF but it's the same community, ergo the same forum. That's clear to see given that when we changed software, 750 people moved over within a week. And I'm sorry, but blaming the IF posters for not coming over here is nonsense. The decision was taken by Ras to set up his own forum after a day of posting on the IF and not liking it. He was perfectly within his rights to do that, and good luck to him for it. There was never any chance of IF people coming here because why would a community built up over 8 years want to come to a forum with different posters, run by different people that had only been set up a few days? It's a non argument. Who cares where people post, but it really grates on me that people are trying to make out that we're somehow too different, too radical, too negative on the IF. By and large we all want exactly the same things. Precisely, my friendly moderator And the main point stands.

Hugo That's not what happened. The IF moved to an improved platform, it did not close. As I read the comments when people migrated to the IF from the OF when that was shut down, the setting up of this forum had little to do with technology, although that was raised, but more because the robustness of debate made some feel uncomfortable. Why would IF members migrate here when there has been an 8 year history, whne the membership had grown to over 900? For example. One of the moderators of this forum who did migrate got upset when I ridiculed the logic of someone who posted that he was "Proud to be a Rovers Fan" I think I was defined as a "Faceless Bully"
Bit weak really isn't it.
I'm sorry but this is where your argument falls apart completely. We're talking about an internet forum here - not a football club. History makes no real difference; if you were keeping the same web address or login credentials then your argument may have a shred of substance. However, the new forum was set up with a new company, using a new domain name, where all users had to sign up from scratch - there was no continuity whatsoever. If you are/were so keen to have us "all under one roof", when the decision was made to move to a new platform that allowed easy navigation/readability on a mobile device and/or tablet, you all just could have moved here. Alas, the decision was taken to keep it seperate. The IF had the perfect opportunity to do as you suggest, but decided against it and carried on doing their own thing. IMO, for that reason, there is no argument (debate) to be had. So, in short, you think the people running the IF should have just forced users to join this one by taking away the choice of remaining with the existing community built up over 8 years? What utter nonsense.

What utter nonsense. Yes it is utter nonsense. Those of us who were only ever on the OF also had to up and find a new home too. We also had a community. It would also be a nonsense to suggest that we could all just slot in to another group overnight. Both forums have merit. Both have something different to offer. It is what it is.

I think this is it. It would have been nice to find a single home, but the fact is that some people want different things from their forum experience. Ras and the others on this forum didn't feel like they fitted in on the IF, and I don't think they'd have liked it if our 900 members had just come over here and started posting the same things as on the IF. There used to be two main forums and that's still the case. It's just that whereas the IF used to be the minority forum, now it's the majority forum. I look forward to seeing both develop fully once the new season starts.

Ironic isn't it that an approach mirroring the disgraceful way OF users were treated is now seen as an acceptable approach. Agree with the rest of your post as well. Finger pointing achieves nothing aside from creating even larger divides.

What utter nonsense. Not nonsense at all. As I say, nothing remained or was moved. This forum has all the features on the new one the IF have created so if the "under one roof" thing was so important the IF could have just come here. I think you're misunderstanding my point. It's not to say the IF SHOULD have come here - it's to say to all those bleating on about us "all being under one roof" that the opportunity WAS there and it wasn't taken. That's all I'm saying and I stand by that. So certainly not nonsense.

I joined the IF when the OF was closed down, and I do look at it each day, because for a start it has so many more on it,there is much more to read.In saying that,I do prefer this one,I just feel more comfortable. I do find the IF(or some of the regular posters)just seem to moan about every little thing about BRFC,it does "get you down" a bit!. But I am quite happy to be on both. Each to his own and all that. We are ALL BRFC fans that is the main thing.

Childish deflection from someone bored of the same old crap more like. Gaschat stays. End of.
You want to post here? Do it. You want to post there? Do it.
This is fast becoming ridiculous and to be quite frank, Id rather this thread was locked now and deleted.
Like I said. Gaschat stays until it dies its own death. That is the end of it. People have a choice and they keep it.

Hey folks, I just found you all via a mention in a post on the independent forum. I agree with the OP by the way - it's a shame to have two such similar boards, but it is how it is. Great to see so many of the OF on here. Can't wait for the World Cup to come along and hope it's going to mend my broken football heart! - or at least take my mind off the Gas for a month. I'm about to move to Leeds, by the way. Where's going to be local in the Conference?

By the way, Big Dave is running a World Cup Prediction game if you fancy taking part? Below is the link if you're interested: gaschat.co.uk/thread/156/world-cup-prediction-game-round

I have to say that I'm finding ito hard keeping up with four forums. If you have something important to say, do you have to post it four times, to get your message over?
The trouble is I use the forums to keep up with news and gossip,so I daren't not look at them all in case I miss something. How sad is that?

I didn't lock or delete it though did I? I sure feel like it though that's true.
Look, let me be clear about this. You can continue to suggest whatever you like. I am a fan too and I have an opinion as well as anyone else. I'll voice that opinion if I like.
As long as this forum has members who post on it, it will remain. As is the very definition of a forum in the first place.
Noone from the IF has approached me personally about joining or whatever.
