Corey Hurford has surprisingly been released by Swansea City - has been rated highly in the past.
Pirate - any thoughts ?
I assume he is too young for us given JBs hunger now for older pros.

Similarly with Connolly and McCormick, I think that the majority of supporters thought it was good business when we signed them. Yep. And hopefully majority don’t want to give up on them too soon. Connolly especially I think will be a good back up CB and prove to be the player we saw in the 2nd half of 21/22 season. McCormick I hope but have no idea if he will come good again League 1> league 2 Don’t pin your hopes on any of the players that won us that promotion. League 1 is a totally different kettle of fish. Remember that Plymouth player scoring with an overhead kick? That’s the kind of player we need in league 1, not Harry Anderson or Connolly. Big step up

Just 27 left to find now 😁!!

Big step up I can't recall many fans complaining too much about Connolly when he was playing alongside Thomas, Gordon/Clarke and Hoole were seen as the weak links in that defence at the time.

I scored one for Portishead fc in the last minute of a game to win an important match . As I fell I dislocated my shoulder and was out of action for a few months ( eventually had to have an operation to tie in shoulder) . It was really painful. Moral of the story is overhead kicks look great but they’re bloody dangerous! 😂

Carl Winchester released by Sunderland - don't make 60 apps for them if you're not a top player. Did very well at Cheltenham, Oldham, and FGR - lived in the area for a while. Would be a great replacement for Coutts.

Remember him from his days as a youngster at Chippenham Town mainly from him scoring a couple in an FA Youth Cup tie vs higher level opposition, but haven't seen a huge amount of him since then. Would expect him to get a non-league club next or maybe Welsh Premier League.

Be surprised if there is a "long list of league clubs" interested in signing him, but good luck to him if that is the case. He's only been at Swansea for a year and they've decided not to take up the option of a further year on his contract, after signing him following a brief spell at Welsh lower league outfit Briton Ferry and his time in youths at Chippenham Town. Maybe Newport have seen something in him to develop, but I would expect his next move to be lower.

All quiet on the rumour front. Only one I’ve seen is we are competing with AFC Wimbledon for Ellery Balcombe 😖 😆

Yes i saw that one .... Made me laugh and grimace at the same time.
I think the headline was something like ... "L2 side set to hijack Rovers transfer target "
Then i saw it was Balcombe and uttered out loud my first .... " Oh FFS" of the closed season.
I stated last season on here that JB likes Balcombe but i am not convinced he is anywhere near good enough - would much prefer Jamal Blackman.

Really dont see how Balcombe is the answer. For me, I think Joey (rightly) wants an upgrade on Belly. Ideally someone who will come in and compete with him for the jersey. Blackman would be ideal, or the Orient guy if we could pull that off. Then Ward sent out on loan until Jan at conference level. If Belly not able to challenge then he will be keen on a move by Jan, leaving space for Ward to come back and be our no.2. Otherwise I worry we will lose Ward. A prem club could take a punt and loan him out, best chance of keep someone with so much potential is give them a chance! Balcombe barely has more experience than Ward and is deffo not ready to be our No.1

Surprised no other rumours about, hope we give Grant Ward and Josh Grant cut off dates, as if they re not on board fast Eddie can know either way. Thought we would have got another loan last season from Newcastle, after how we looked after Elliot.

Noticed in one of the later games, might have been Shrewsbury, but Balcombe's kicking was pretty accurate and impressive. A few times he pinged a long drilled kick accurately to our wide players to start a counter attack. Wonder if this is why JB likes him as sometimes Belly seems slow/reluctant to release the ball quickly when he gets hold of it.

I hope we don't lose Grant Ward - Think he has done a terrific job and proven he is fit at the same time. Last I heard our offer was on the low side so now he has proved his fitness I would guess he is been marketed by his agent. Would be typical of us to lose him to another mid - table L1 outfit. Cant see anyone else in L1 taking a chance on Josh Grant so again it's whether he accepts his 'show us your fit' contract. With regards Newcastle - The next EA that might be on his way out on loan is Garang Kuol - Allegedly a very exciting Right winger hailing from Australia but has had an awful loan spell at Hearts FC. I am really hoping he is here next season.

22-year-old central midfielder Ryan Stirk has caught the eye over the past couple of years. He had a promising loan spell last season with Mansfield and has impressed this season at Bromley with two consecutive Player of the Month awards at the club. Capped by Wales from u16-u21 level, he is out-of-contract at Birmingham City this summer and could be a smart pick up for a club in L1 to develop. View Attachment Attachment DeletedStirk one of a number of players released by Birmingham City. Was highly-rated by Nigel Clough during his time on loan at Mansfield and Cloughie likely to be interested in a permanent move, but with his potential I'd take him here. Others released include experienced defenders Harlee Dean and Kevin Long, plus experienced winger Jordan Graham.

Jordan Graham showed what he is capable of at this level in the right team if played correctly a couple of seasons back with 12 goals and 6 assists. He showed glimpses of his creative quality at Brum too.

Ruben Rodrigues got 12 goals and 10 assists in 27 games in his last season at Den Bosch in the Dutch 2nd tier before moving to Notts County. 10 goals in his first season with County, then 20 goals and 6 assists during 21/22 and he has 17 goals and 14 assists so far this season. Out-of-contract this summer. [/div][/quote]
