Am I alone in thinking this wasn't a football related decision? We use the word sacked, PV say they have parted company. DC has been through the wringer and back. Maybe a relegation battle was shredding him to bits and he had the nuts to admit as much to his employers. This is not an attempt at rumour mongering, just putting an idea forward. It’s phrase that BC used with GJ and we used with DC. It’s a respectful way of saying you’re sacked after all the good you have done. That said; what did sit uncomfortably was the “discussions with senior players”. At what point are they involved? The tail should never wag the management dog. It’s as if the players have down tools unless DC goes which if it is the case, that’s wrong. As I said previously, most of them aren’t good enough for this league anyway and perhaps their number would have been up in the summer and that was seen as a way to stay their own execution a bit longer. It does smack of how things were post Trollope here.

It does smack of how things were post Trollope here. I go along with that. Also, it seems no-one is willing to look beyond what could be just a poor spell nowadays. I see the language all too often on here - ‘don’t know where the next point is coming from, etc’ and have a chuckle about it. We saw it when Barton recently got one point from six games. DC has proven before that he does know what he’s doing and your point about players forcing the issue when perhaps they can see a summer exit on the cards is a good one. The manager is the one who sees his reputation damaged. DC surely had enough credit in the bank to see his side limp over the line and then have a summer re-set, but unfortunately the owner saw things differently.

I suppose it depends if you think 15th in League 1 is good or average. Each to their own. Good

Major debate on Radio Stoke this am but people within the club were critical of DC's recruitment. I thought recruitment was Flitcroft’s responsibility? Suspect DC may have been involved in recruiting Ellis and Snakey at least. They are both on the bench tonight at Ipswich.

All that does is turn the focus of the fans ire on to the supposed senior players. I don’t imagine players would have a meeting to discuss a managers future. Then again maybe their director of football was trying to spread the blame too. It’s a shame for such a popular manager, hope he can get back quickly from it.

Walsall sack Michael Flynn, DC opportunity to go back? I dont think Walsall fans would welcome that. They dont rate him at all and he lost more than he won there. I think he should take an extended break after what he went through last year and come back stronger

Interesting that this has happened less than 2 weeks since this video was released; Thank Goodness we have Wael and Tom and not this OCD Grannie who would be better served starring in a video on how to make jam. No wonder DC fell out if that bell end Flitcroft had total charge over everything relating to football - Awful decision. Nice pay off for him now though - enjoy your summer DC and you will no doubt 'dust yourself down and go again' hopefully somewhere that respects you a little more.

I thought PV's chairman was the best thing since sliced bread last season?
At the end of the day if a manager is looking likely to get a team relegated then he's always going to be in danger of getting the sack, Wael managed to sack two last season for that reason!

From Vale Forum.
We were outplayed at Bristol but were holding our own in heading for a draw. The subs disrupted the defence and of course you can't expect Stevens to save a shot on target. He'd wandered off somewhere.

If JB left for brighter lights, would people be happy with a return for DC? Rovers fans love a comeback!

If JB left for brighter lights, would people be happy with a return for DC? Rovers fans love a comeback! Even if Wael was prepared to offer him the job I feel DC would be mad to potentially ruin his Rovers legacy, regardless he needs to somehow prove he can manage a top 10 L1 side that's if another L1 club is prepared to give him a chance.

But we’re not a top 10 league one side?
