DC sacked by Port Vale. On a bad run but i bit harsh in my opinion. Hate it when clubs get promoted then sack a manager because they arent winning every week

Gutted for him tbh. I know sympathy is outdated but he has been through so much.

UTG! edit: Reading the PV forum it looks like there is a back story. Some are glad, some are not that he’s gone but there’s obviously something happening behind the scenes at the club. The statement about him going from the club mentions consultations with “senior players.” Backroom revolt? With the exit of their CEO a few weeks ago things are on the change. Fans not happy with Flitcroft their DOF, was called a ‘snake in the grass.’ Mmm, reminds me who have they there now! Anyway, not a happy club this last part of the season. |

I know nothing, or very little, but I thought I saw on Vale fans forum that when the Pompey job came up, DC wanted to apply for it. Vale wouldn't allow it and, I think, told him that they would demand prohibitive compensation. Some Vale fans impression was that DC lost interest in Vale.
Just saying, it's what I read.

Seen a lot of their fans wanting him out recently and quite a few have said he wasn't in charge, when they had their best run last season. They are in danger of going down, so it's not really surprising.

Wether that ends in relegation relies on a couple of teams below actually putting wins on the board. Cambridge, Oxford & MK at the least. |

I think the support Both supporters will show DC on Saturday will really embarress the ownership of Vale. Reading between the lines it sounds not too dissimilar to the Widdrington situation here.
A football director and manager not working in total harmony. Trolls and Lennie worked because they were very even about their impact on the first team. The segregation of duties didn't mean one could come out clean when sh** hit the fan.

Feels like only a few weeks ago us they were above us along with Exeter in the mini-league of promoted teams. We were worried as out of form and defensively poor.
They are still unlikely to go down and had the shoe been on the other foot, with just 4 games left I would have left JB to finish the job if he could -or take full responsibility (think I said so on a poll thread some months back).
Difference is, they seem to have decided DC is not the one to lead them next season, whereas we knew if we stayed up Joey would (and should) have got a 2nd season to progress us in L1.

Flitcroft has managed football league teams, having him in as DOF is such a snake move from the owners. Shoehorning him in to undermine DC & ultimately take the reins once form starts to drop off.
I’m sure Vale fans will make their feelings known Saturday.

Sounds like a hail mary to try and save their L1 status as they are dropping like a stone and don't have an easy finish to the season.
