I can't understand what JB/Rovers gain from coaching Premiership youngsters, surely signing a player like Gibson and coaching him means, firstly, that he'll be here for a few seasons and, secondly, we might eventually get a decent transfer fee for him.
The fact Newcastle nor Stoke didn't loan us any further players this season suggests the Premiership clubs don't really have much interest in how JB coaches their youngsters.

Or maybe Newcastle and Stoke didn't have anyone that Joey wanted? Aston Villa and Everton had the right player at the right stage to progress and go out on loan.

It doesn't look like we'll achieve that this season with the various players we've had on loan? Would you give up what we achieved last season? One of the greatest in our history and which made headlines around the world. You must be one miserable bugger.

The lugubrious Topper once advised me to 'Find another club to follow nearer to where I live'.In 1966 to 1969 I flew many times from RAF Laarbruch in Germany to the UK to watch Rovers at Eastville. For 50 years I drove to most home games from Stafford( Staffordshire Gas)-118 miles each way- and for the past two seasons I travel from East Devon so decided not to take his advice!!!!! At 77 perhaps following Cullumpton Town might not have the same appeal!!!

It doesn't look like we'll achieve that this season with the various players we've had on loan? But there is a chance we could sign one permanently like we did last season. Connelly may not have had the greatest season this year but is still young and I think this year was a massive learning curve for him. Could we sign Gibson this time round? I know loans tend not to come back but I'm thinking there is a possibility we get Bogarde for a full season. What is the point of loans is that we get players of better quality than what we could get to sign permanently and don't have to pay through the roof to get them here. There is always a chance that we could sign one of them at the end of the loan and we gradually build a side to take us to the next level.

Try telling that to Burnley with Nathan Tella from Saints and Middlesbrough with Cameron Archer from Villa. Both players have helped both clubs to promotion and possible promotion to the PL. I bet both clubs are happy to coach ‘Premiership youngsters.’ Topper, loans are a big part of every clubs (with a few exceptions) squad in all leagues. We would be further behind the others if wr didn’t take advantage. Iirc when we didn’t use loans so well other managers took a hammering in here. And I presume your last sentence is a wind-up to get a reaction. Of course clubs have an interest in how clubs coach their players. Don’t be daft! UTG!

It is so obvious I am not sure if Topper is winding us up or pining for a past that is long gone

Not really sure why I'm answering as it's obvious you post to try and be controversial, but you do remember May 7th last year? Without those loan players, we'd still be in league 2 and I'd suggest that without this season's loan players, we'd be back there. Hope the sun shines for you soon Topper, lad.
