Whatever happens Collins is loyal which is rare these days, he's no snake that's for sure, he signed a new contract so if he does get sold we will get a decent fee, he's also happy to stay and get us into the championship, fair play Aaron

I'd be surprised if any Championship club paid £4m for a player who's only really had half a season of good football in L1. If they've watched him regularly since January how is he worth £4m on current form?
If JB's now talking about a £4m fee then I assume that means he hopes to get bids somewhere between £2m to £3m. If he seriously thought he was £4m.no doubt he'd be suggesting he was worth £5m to £6m.

People who think we would get 4m are living in dreamland. Championship clubs don't spend that sort of money on a single player.
Those who are relegated from the premier league often have more to spend once they sell their best players but I cant really see a team who wants to bounce straight back into the top division going for someone like Collins, they would rather a bigger, proven name.
Also remember that we are a selling club who often accept the first bids for our best players. If anyone makes a bid they will start with a very low offer which we would reject (although you never know with us!) Collins then finds out about it and his agent informs the club he wants to leave.
In my onionin 2m is the maximum we could get. Wouldn't surprise me if it was only around 1m with a sell on clause and various add on's like making an international appearance etc.

Mayhe 2 plus add ons tho

That's why he didn't go for free. How does anyone know Collins and his agent has installed a similar release clause as Taylor had? If the minimum release clause is £250k but Joeys talk leads to a confirmed offer of £1.5mill how will we ever know? I think DC did much the same, but the hoped for bidding war didn't happen for Taylor.

Post has been reporting that there are no clauses on Collins’ contract and wasn’t Taylor just tied down for 6 remaining months? Chalk and cheese. This is more like JCH albeit with a longer contract period. We should get decent money for Collins. And I wouldn’t be too despondent if we did sell him for 4m as he hasn’t played that well since Christmas. We can then go off and invest in the side which Joey has suggested will be the plan.

If anything its the other players who have not managed to raise their game?

I think DC did much the same, but the hoped for bidding war didn't happen for Taylor. IIRC no one came in for Taylor that was better than us when we got promoted but he would only sign a 12m deal in case he scored a hatful again and didn't want to ruin his chances of a big move due to a large price tag. Unfortunately MT held all the cards when it came to negotiating the deal and his agent then blabbed his release fee to all in sundry. Again, not many champ clubs were interested in him in Jan when he was going to be a free agent in the summer and City really only bought him to negate our chances of making the play offs that year. Once the release fee was met, it would have taken a couple of clubs to bid against each other, but that never happened and MT decided that he didn't want to play the loyalty card. Which is the total opposite of Sir Rickie, who delayed a move, signed a contract extension on the understanding we wouldn't stand in his way.

even though this thread, in my opinion, is premature, here’s my take on AC and his price if he goes. We’re a selling club (I know every player has his price before anyone says) but we are a selling club always have been, so I think he’ll go mid summer to a top league 1 team or a championship team, fee around 1.75 million. There that was fun I like guessing stuff like that!! UTG

Collins has good technical ability. He can turn players and has the pace to go past them. He's also equally comfortable with both feet and can score with his right or left from 2 yards or 20.
At 25 he's still improving and I'm sure he'd make a positive impact in the Championship.
If somebody had asked me in January I'd have said £4M+ or forget it. His form dipped along with the teams in the last 20 games but he's still proven to be a top player at this level.
The absolute minimum we should be looking for is £2.5M rising to £3M with add-ons and a 20% sell on.

I said 4m in another thread.
At whatever level he can impress his game- I feel he's very much a sink or swim player. He's not going to "half beat his man". His pace, power and trickery will either work or not. If he can translate his game to a higher level- then £4m will be a bargain. If he can't- he'll retain 2m as a top end league one striker. That's not to knock his other skills as what you're hoping to get is worth way more £4m.
If he can translate his game to the championship he'd be worth 8m easily.I think valuations below 4m transfer little risk to the buyer. Hence 4m to start conversations makes sense.
For what it's worth I think he can play the championship and prove a valuations well above £4m.

He will flourish in the championship, more time on the ball, not so many hatchet merchants, if Birmingham are taken over reckon he will be targeted.
Ipswich have money to burn, and Brighton and Brentford are good at identifying talent.

In regards to Twine, MK Dons finished 3rd that season. So that means Twine was in a more successful and better team. That means more chances to score/assist. Collins would have performed better with better players around him.
