Taylor did sign a new contract. That's why he didn't go for free. How does anyone know Collins and his agent has installed a similar release clause as Taylor had? If the minimum release clause is £250k but Joeys talk leads to a confirmed offer of £1.5mill how will we ever know? I think DC did much the same, but the hoped for bidding war didn't happen for Taylor. IIRC no one came in for Taylor that was better than us when we got promoted but he would only sign a 12m deal in case he scored a hatful again and didn't want to ruin his chances of a big move due to a large price tag. Unfortunately MT held all the cards when it came to negotiating the deal and his agent then blabbed his release fee to all in sundry. Again, not many champ clubs were interested in him in Jan when he was going to be a free agent in the summer and City really only bought him to negate our chances of making the play offs that year. Once the release fee was met, it would have taken a couple of clubs to bid against each other, but that never happened and MT decided that he didn't want to play the loyalty card. Which is the total opposite of Sir Rickie, who delayed a move, signed a contract extension on the understanding we wouldn't stand in his way. Why would he be worried about anything longer than a 12 month deal if he had a release clause anyway? That doesn’t make sense |

Imo no need to sell Aaron; more chance of getting promotion with him than without him, apparently he has two years left on his contract, more chance of getting promotion with Azza playing than letting him go and thinking Lofty is going to fire BRFC into the Championship.

Didn’t Gary Penrice fetch a million when he went to Watford? Or was that when he went to Villa from Watford? I can’t quite remember.

Alex Rodman was there too preparing for round one of The Clutch Tour which I believe has replaced the Europro Tour as the third tier in european pro golf - he tees off at 7:40 tomorrow. All that practice time he had during the football season has paid off!! |

Sold to Watford for £500k in 1989. Saw Mr Penrice this morning playing golf at The Players golf course. Alex Rodman was there too preparing for round one of The Clutch Tour which I believe has replaced the Europro Tour as the third tier in european pro golf - he tees off at 7:40 tomorrow. All that practice time he had during the football season has paid off!! Rodman is still suffering with the medical issue, he went quite a while without playing golf, and has cancelled golf arrangements recently on a few occassions because of it. I hope that he is able to get through the 2 days of the tournament. Not sure if The Clutch Tour is going to be televised in the same way - any sign of cameras there today? Some good players competing - Alex is 300/1 |

If he has a later start time Tues and Weds I might try and pop up and see how he’s doing. It’s a big ask going from one pro career to another, I think Jimmy Bullard, Roy Wegerle and Julian Dicks all tried. Cricketer Peter Trejo is also giving it a go at the moment. From what I’ve read Rodders came close to a golf career in his teens before reverting back to football. Good luck to him. |

Agreed if he was just a footballer and but he’s a person too as they all are ( the dury is out on Twatty Failure) and if somebody wants to leave then it’s better to let them leave than stop them. Getting £2m + this summer would be better for the club than keeping him here against his wishes. And I think we’ll get that. |

He once scored 87 goals in a season for Boco Boys in the Hanham Minor League and in the same team was Mark Cooper (who went on to score the winner at Eastville in the Minor Cup Final).
