Cricket ? I played for St.George, my Dad for Hengrove, Brislington, Imperial, Robinsons and many more. The last day of the Ashes in Cardiff with Monty Panesar batting was (almost) as good as last year's 7-0, but it still isn't Gas. Old Georgians? I briefly played for the Youth Team.

Can't support Clifton instead though - too posh. Watched Dings a few times, but haven't watched any egg chasing for years. The Gas and the Shire it is. Although a honourable Happy Hammer just for today. Always supported British clubs in Europe, even Newport in the Cup Winners Cup 40 odd years ago. Aldridge and Tynan together - is that right they were there at the same time? If so a truly fearsome strike force in the lower leagues.

Same, I just watched the game in a pub in Auckland, with about 50 or so West Ham fans. Guinness for breakfast. 🍺🍺🍺🍺, 🏆

Use to drink here on a Saturday after I played football for Patchway North End

Winterbourne Down girlie( many moons ago ) 💙Utg and Gloucestershire CC 💙 My parents moved from Winterbourne to Portishead a month before I was born . Remember going to my one and only cricket game at Taunton as a kid , Ian Botham Joel Garner etc …… I wasn’t exactly hooked as I was only interested in footy but decided then my cricket team was Somerset. Been meaning to go again for yrs but never got round to it. Maybe this summer ? Do it !!! 🏏💙

I grew up in Winterbourne. I remember Phil Purnell joining in with a kick about with us kids at the Rec while visiting his parents who lived around the corner. I’m sure he played for Winterbourne cricket club for a while even during his early football career (but could be wrong about that). He did indeed I remember playing against him and as at the time being a young lad and a bit excited to play against a Rovers player I tried to launch him out the ground first ball, didn't end well for me. Phil Purnell did indeed play for winterbourne along with my brother. Phil is a good friend of my family, good cricketer in his day ! 💙🏏⚽️

Only started going to cricket due to the older regulars at my local, the royal archer. They knew you could drink all day at the cricket and , when a bunch of us went, it could be a great laugh. Those were the days

Do you, by any chance, remember a big lummox called Steve McCennerey AKA Mac, he played wicket keeper for winterbourne and , prior to him marrying well and now living abroad, used to be a close friend. Proper Keith Moon type character also for purdownpoacher1 thanks

Absolutely love cricket ! Best thing about the summer watching Gloucestershire ! 🥏🏏🏏🏏 *Somerset Of course it’s Somerset! Was at the Rose Bowl last night to see Somerset lose their first T20 game v Hampshire. ☹️ Really should have won, they’ll have to take it out on someone on Friday night. Somerset and Rovers every time.👍 UTG!

I was sat amongst Hampshire fans obviously and it was great banter. Two top captains using their bowlers very well. Gregory to restrict Hampshire to 170 when they looked on for 200+ and Vince to put the brakes on when Banton and Smeed almost had it won. As you say, it was a missed opportunity. (How often do I say that about Somerset!!) But a great evening and good watch. UTG! Edit: Sorry I’ll stop talking about cricket now. Have they built the stand yet?

Nick asked if it was okay to bring a friend along - Phil was gobsmacked when John Barnes walked in.

As a Hampshire fan, that is two games on the bounce we got away with it. Both against teams with 100% records, but opposite records. 🤣

Nathan Ellis best 20/20 bowler in the league I think. Somerset, Hampshire and Surrey will qualify from the group and I think the competition winners will come from that 3. But then again in a 20/20 match anything can happen and the best teams overall don’t always win. time will tell. 👍 UTG!
