PS What's happened to Glos in recent years they seem to have a suburb ground now but a second rate side, when they used to have a pretty poor ground but decent side?

Gloucestershire v Somerset T20 on Friday evening. Got my tickets and travelling from Chichester. As a kid growing up in Bishopston in the late 60s and early 70s me and my late friend Wookey used to watch the second half of Rovers games for free when they opened the Muller Road gates, and could always find a way of sneaking in free at the rugby and cricket. We always had a chat with Harold Jarman as he often turned out for Gloucester seconds and that was free entry. Happy days!

Bring back the football season. 1 page and this has become Cricketworks instead of the Gasworks.

Winterbourne Down girlie( many moons ago ) πUtg and Gloucestershire CC π My parents moved from Winterbourne to Portishead a month before I was born . Remember going to my one and only cricket game at Taunton as a kid , Ian Botham Joel Garner etc β¦β¦ I wasnβt exactly hooked as I was only interested in footy but decided then my cricket team was Somerset. Been meaning to go again for yrs but never got round to it. Maybe this summer ?

I remember Phil Purnell joining in with a kick about with us kids at the Rec while visiting his parents who lived around the corner. Iβm sure he played for Winterbourne cricket club for a while even during his early football career (but could be wrong about that).

Cricket ?
I played for St.George, my Dad for Hengrove, Brislington, Imperial, Robinsons and many more. The last day of the Ashes in Cardiff with Monty Panesar batting was (almost) as good as last year's 7-0, but it still isn't Gas.

He did indeed I remember playing against him and as at the time being a young lad and a bit excited to play against a Rovers player I tried to launch him out the ground first ball, didn't end well for me.
