Recall when Somerset had Festivals and played at ;Weston ,Bath and even the Imperial ground at West Town Lane where I saw Fred Trueman playing for the Tykes. Indeed. Happy days. I saw Greg Chappell score the first century in the old John Player Sunday League at Brislington in 1969. Gloucestershire have done well to maintain the Cheltenham Festival, very few counties do festivals in out-lying grounds today. UTG!

So, England showed yesterday what Bazball can do,they are playing a different brand if cricket to anyone else ATM,the Aussies couldn't cope. We are in a dominant position in this test and a 200 run lead will be decisive, sadly looking at the forecast up here I can see little play over the weekend and showers today That will save the Aussies and we will potentially be robbed of a fantastic final game at the oval. My take so far of the series is that only one team has played positive cricket the other has reacted albeit they are 2-1 up,I hope we get enough sessions for England to win, whatever happens yesterday was the best day I've seen for years.

I guess the only question is how much more play do we need for a result? England will bat on at 7-8 runs/over until they are all out (or have a perfect moment to declare), so after two more hours of play the lead is 240, three hours and it's 320 - and then we just need ten wickets...

Certainly was a good day for England ,fortune favours the brave and we certainly had our share of good fortune, great score by Crawley but as with most innings of that magnitude he used up a lot of lives! several inside edges which just missed the stumps before one did for him and plenty of drives that missed the edge, but you rarely score near two hundred without a few scares, felt sorry for Joe root who got a real stinker of a shooter, he looked so comfortable, by late afternoon Aussies were so ragged in the field but fair play to them, several went out of their way to congratulate Crawley as he walked off.

Yes it’s been a great series and well done to England. It’s an entertaining way to play cricket but as you say the weather will probably stop us winning this match and in the end we’ve played Bazball and the Aussies have played Test cricket. We should have won the first two tests had we played differently at key moments so it’s an entertaining way to play. Instead of being 1-1 or even 2-0 up we found ourselves 2-0 down and we shouldn’t have imo. Yesterday was a great example of Bazball other days not so much. But it has and will attract people to Test cricket so well done to England for doing that (although I think it’s more Nathan McCullum and Ben Stokes). As to this match given a whole day today, bat for a 300 lead and then get as accurate forecasts of the weather as possible and decide accordingly. Tomorrow, like Headingly we could have a last session to do something. The way Stokes has started today we could be well ahead by mid afternoon. Whatever it will be exciting and I hope they play with their heads over the next few days. 👍 UTG!

After a great Ashes series, it's soon the World Cup and locally, at least Glos can only get better! Rather embarrassing to finish bottom after the Yorkies points deductions.
A few good youngsters (the Price bros, Wells and Charlesworth), showed a bit of promise let's hope they find a bid more consistency next season.
Put Bracey up the order and give the gloves to Wells and have a fit captain so he only has to concentrate on batting, rather than also being skipper and having the gloves and he will score more runs no doubt.
Oh well, at least the 50 over Mickey Mouse equivalent cup was a bit of fun against everyone else's reserves, especially against Somersets under 15's!

Yes MTFC, v embarrassing to finish bottom with no wins. Keeping the bowlers fit next season has to be a priority. Ollie Price batted v well. James Bracey is a bit of an enigma. I saw him get a big hundred v Yorkshire in the first weeks of the 2022 season, he batted beautifully but seemed to struggle wherever he batted since then. He’s signed a new contract so I hope it puts him in good spirits for next season. Looking forward to it already!

Poor old Gloucestershire. They’ve had a wretched 2/3 seasons. I thought they were on the turn when they got promotion. There are so many reasons why they should be better, a large city ground, several internationals being played there, potential crowds but their team seems to have just plummeted. 18months ago Steve Snell the Somerset performance director who was heavily responsible for how well we did as a club left to return to Gloucestershire and I thought he would, given time, build a better club but he left midway through this season, the reasons for which I don’t know. But they seem in some disarray. Need a couple of decent fast bowlers I would have said and hope that some of their youngsters have a good season and that James Bracey returns to his pre-Covid form.
Meanwhile Somerset are set for a re-set this winter, our attack which was good has aged and we need reinforcements with players leaving. Jack Brooks is going and he could do a short term job for Gloucestershire in Division 2 I’d have thought. Those seasons of challenging for the holy grail, the Championship are gone and now it’s more a case of avoiding relegation. Big close season for both clubs I think.
