Can anyone let me know what exactly goes on at Gloucester - relegates without a whimper T20 team seemingly gone, Bracey/Payne struggling or injured - no quality looking likely to finish bottom of league and not challenge for anything ?? Try asking " Gulfofaden " He seems to be a supporter. Judging by their results he could be there opening bat.

So are you telling me as a person that was born & bred and lived in Somerset all his life cannot support Rovers ? What a load of rubbish. Anyway in football terms I think of Gloucs as Non League. Letโs be fair, if you were born and bred in Somerset youโre going to have real difficulties counting scores which enter 3 figures. You've never been to Gloucester then?

Gloucestershire early batsmen were awful tonight and at 9-3 looked out if it but Gloucestershire came back well and set a challenging target of 186 for Somerset. Gloucestershireโs bowlers did well and at one stage had us in trouble but we are a very good team and bat deep and despite looking likely winners Gloucestershire allowed Somerset to come back and we won it in the last over. It was a good match and Gloucestershire played better than their league placing but lost against a better team. Anyway now weโve started signing players Iโm sure this thread will drop off page 1. UTG!

I asked the same earlier in the thread, apparently all the money was spent on developing the ground, then COVID hit the finances further, and they are yet to recover.

Iโm sure others will know better butโฆ. Gloucestershire did spend a lot on their number 1 priority, the ground. But after that they did get promotion to Division 1 of the County Championship with a decent team but then the pandemic came the season after they got promotion and by the time they played a normal CC season they were relegated, 2022. Poor James Bracey and others who had looked so good have had a wretched couple of years. Now they are back struggling in Division 2. But they have a young side with promise. Dale Singh, Akhter are promising fast bowlers and the Price twins and Bracey will come good again. And Miles Hammond is a genuine talent. Despite van Burren they really lack a decent consistent spinner from what Iโve seen. And Iโve seen them a few times over the past year. You're right Topper they are yet to recover. They will but it will take time for the youngsters to mature and be more consistent. They really need a young captain who they persevere with whatever happens. They seem to be chopping and changing captains. Iโm sure some Gloucestershire fans will give a better insight into whatโs happened.

Warehamgas has summed up Gloucesterโs problems very well. To add my bit, the shire has a limited budget and has been a bit unlucky with signings. Both last year and this, good fastish bowlers were signed who quickly got injured. Last summer it was an overseas player, Naseem Shah, who played the first match and got injured never really to be replaced. This summer it was Marchant de Lange, Iโve always liked him, but he is now injured and out for most of the summer. Added to our best batter, James Bracey, having a pretty barren run, these are big issues. Perhaps he should give up keeping wicket. Higgins is missed too.
But hope springs eternal and in the Price brothers and Charlesworth and Singh Dale and Akhter we have some promising players. We need a couple to turn into good county professionals who could get into any side and things will pick up.

Get the cricket on ! ๐บ What a morning that was! Unbelievable, still think itโs pretty much mission impossible but if Stokes pulls this one off itโll be his greatest ever cricketing achievement
