Rather than Bristol being in either county as a whole, surely north of the Avon is Gloucestershire, south is Somerset?

Die hard gas and follow Somerset… can’t decide where you’re born and bread, but can decide which team you’re dedicated too. Nice to see Somerset in the quarter finals of the T20, and the only team ever to win 12 out of the 14 group games.

Very much agree, SomersetGas.
Such a shame that the Aussies keep trying to lower the beautiful game to such a base level.

What a great series.
Each test match just makes my heart feel like it is a penalty shoot out.
Totally addictive. A 60 minute DIY job has taken me two days, as I just can't concentrate.
I try to avoid the score, but it keeps dragging me back.

Unfair to single anyone but if Foakes kept this series, would we have won the Ashes by now?
Even though Stewart was a decent wickie, I always thought that Jack should have been selected every match, as he was that good. (and could chip in with a few vital runs and would not lose his wicket cheaply).
We will never know, but Bairstow has been world class in recent years with the bat, but is he currently undroppable?
Bit of a selection headache now. Do we go with, our best bowler for the last ten years, Jimmy at home at Old Trafford, or do you keep Wood?
Got to say, I would go with head over heart and go Foakes and Wood.
The way this series has ebbed and flowed and everyone has played their part, I would not doubt that Bairstow gets a 50 and Jimmy gets 3 or 4 each innings if they do play.
I think the Aussies will sneak it 3-2 but it is such a fine balance, either side could have won 5-0.
Imagine going to a football match and thinking it was an incredibly close 5-0?
I remember we lost 1-4 at home v Brentford at Twerton and they only had 5 shots and two were worldies, I think one was from a break and one was a mistake. We hit the post twice and missed several gilt edged chances and their keeper made a few decent saves and the defence made a few last ditch tackles and blocks. Sounds strange but in the Twerton chippy we were saying how did we lose that?

Think Anderson, on his home ground, and Wood will both play, it is Robinson with his dodgy back and weak ankle that will miss out.

Another great test that ebbed and flowed and very entertaining! great the series is still alive 😀

Sounds strange but in the Twerton chippy we were saying how did we lose that? Bairstow batting in recent years made him a certain pick before the series started and everyone knows he’s not as good a keeper as Foakes. Normally his batting would more than make up for it. When he’s had a few poor tests with the bat there is even more scrutiny of his keeping. I think something which doesn’t help is Stokes is now virtually a batter only with his dodgy knees stopping him playing much of a role as a bowler - a fully fit and functioning all rounder makes these decisions a bit easier.

Bairstow's batting average is higher in test matches when he does not keep. This series he has not done well keeping and his batting is such that it does not cover this.

. A 60 minute DIY job has taken me two days, as I just can't concentrate.. The trick is, finish looking at the catalogue book lingerie section BEFORE play starts.

My team for the next test would be
Crawley Duckett Bairstow Root Brook Stokes Foakes Woakes Wood Broad Anderson
Root can more than pick up the spin with Ali not playing. I think either Bairstow bats only or doesn't play and maybe swap him with Ali.
Robinson will miss out because of his back and Anderson has to play.
If Broad plays this one, may need to be rested for the last but may also need him.
I think Anderson is still world class, but if he doesn't pick up in the next two tests, this could be his last and I so want him to get to second in the all time wicket takers

Stokes, Foakes and Woakes. That's got a bit of a ring to it 😁😁 Reminds me of the famous Lillee caught Dilley bowled Willey. Similar to the time when Aggers and Brian Johnson were commentating V West Indies when Michael Holding was batting: Aggers said “the batsman’s Holding the bowler’s Willey.” The pair of them slowly dissolved, like schoolboys, into giggling and ended up crying with laughter. Of course Aggers didn’t realise what he’d said. Must have lasted about 5 minutes. Memorable, for those of an older generation. UTG!
